⚠️ WARNING! I went on a Sunday and chose this restaurant because others were closed and because of the good reviews ? I HATE BLAND FOOD and the food was sooooo bland terrible. The egusi was nice and the only thing with some flavor. The fish was ok only saved by the warmth of the soup because the fish was hard as a rock at first. My jellof rice was extremely dry like it was 3 days old and it was served cold I had to ask him to warm it and my cold chicken which he kindly did. The jellof rice was so bland completly flavorless and I was excited about it as it's my favorite I was going to take some home to my son but after tasting I would not risk my neck for that. The chicken was dry so very dry and hard also tasted old absolutely NO flavor this place does not believe in seasoning I will never return so I am on the hunt again for good authentic African food. The only plus is the guy was extremely nice which I appreciate
If you're looking for traditional, authentic, native food from the lovely continent of Africa..Stop by..!!What should I eat?Try the sumptuous jollof rice with red stew beef/chicken. If you would like to try something different, order the egusi soup with your choice of beef, chicken, fish, tripe with soft, fluffy pounded yams.Dont forget to pick up a bag of home made "chin chin" before leaving (crunchy, semi sweet, buttery treats).Enjoy..!!
This is the most useless african restaurant in Los Angeles. Their food is disgusting and the taste is very bad. Too much Ajinomoto seasoning in the vegetable soup and also I got rice with no stew just beef stripe and ponmo. Please beware of this this restaurant.
Excellent service, their coconut rice was so yummy to me ☺️☺️
The food is actually amazing here and the service is some of the best. I strongly recommend giving this place a try. Everything on their menu is flavorful and the prices are affordable.
I ordered a very simple meal thru delivery . Egusi soup with fish and pounded yam with extra pounded yam that I did not receive but paid for. The food was not flavorful as African food should be. I read the previous reviews and most of the ppl are trying African food for the 1st time and saying it taste good. Personally, it was horrible. The meal was absolutely too expensive for the awful taste. Consider this meal a waste. I would not recommend this restaurant.
I was looking for a new experience. Delicious! If you want something different that you won't regret go here. Savory, spicy, plenty and delicious.
After an awful experience at Veronica’s kitchen, coming over to Sumptuous was the best decision we made! It was like a breath of fresh air. Warm, welcoming, friendly, courteous, clean, respectful… I could go on and on!! And the food was SUMPTUOUS. Best Amala and Ewedu soup. Highly recommend
I never had African food before and today was the day that I was going to try it. I really enjoyed it and I will try something different next time.
This was our first time trying African food and this place did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. They explained to us what everything was and even how to eat the fufu.It was a great cultural experience for my family and they loved it considering they are very picky eaters and very skeptical when trying things from
