Having lunch here w my hubs and Dad right now before showing my Dad the property. Very large menu with gluten free options! The food is so yummy, and the service is fantastic! So friendly! We ordered the walleye fish tacos, ahi poke tower, and chicken salad w dates and cranberries. Everything is delicious. Definitely get some fresh juice and buy some dates! Great stop in the valley.
Very enlightening experience! I learned a lot about how dates were brought to CA. But wow, the heat was unbearable! I visited Shields in summer and that was one wrong choice. My nephew got a heatstroke after exploring the date park. I had fun taking pictures with the statues around the park. The date shakes and the date ice cream was worth it. A little too sweet for my taste (this place will give you either a heatstroke or a diabetic stroke!) but still very good. There were also a wide variety of date products in the store, and there had date boxes that make ideal presents to bring back as souvenirs for family and friends. I was specially intrigued by the restaurant (I saw that they had a date BURGER in the menu!) but if I remember correctly it seemed to be a little overpriced, so we ended up not staying for lunch.
The best date shakes in the desert! They offer vanilla and "coffee" which doesn't taste like coffee at all in my opinion (it is more like chocolate). I also love to pick up a bag of their date crystals so I can make my own date shakes. Their gift shop has a large variety of dates/gift packs. We did not eat in the cafe but from the looks of how packed the parking lot always is I would venture to say it must be good. They also offer a decent military discount so make sure to ask and show your ID!
Get a date shake!Great place to stop and get out of the heat or before you head into the desert. Lots of date-related treats, assorted souvenirs, and gifts.
Food was great, but they won’t give separate cheques. . Two couples..how hard can it be to make two cheques? Music was very nice.

Great menu. Horrible customer service from the host's trainer. Rude to the elderlys. Told guests and myself it would be a 30- 45 minute wait. We sat and had drinks while we waited. It turned out to be an hr and a half. And the food brought to us, ended being cold. Went on a Sunday. Avoid going on Sundays. Good size in plates. Gorgeous scenery. But the service... Spoke for itself.
Lovely walk through their date and citrus trees. Statues in the garden tell the story of Jesus' life, not for everyone but plants are beautiful regardless. Ate at the Cafe as well. The food was average, nothing impressive but no complaints. Honestly could have offered more dishes with dates featured to really lean in to what makes it unique.
EVERYTHING about this place was fantastic! The staff was absolutely fabulous from the hostess to the young lady behind the shake counter. ALL of the waiters, servers, bussers in the restaurant were very attentive and friendly. The food & drinks? I cannot say enough how delicious they were. I had the date pancakes. My husband had the date omelette. We even ordered two stuffed dates to try. Absolute heaven! The bloody Marys were the BEST we've ever had. Seriously, if you are in the area-you must go here for a meal and then walk around the grounds to enjoy the beautiful landscape & sculptures. A Gem in the Valley, for sure!
