First time to eat here and we weren’t disappointed. I had the grilled fish tacos and they were so good. It’s a fun location along the railroad tracks with a big covered outdoor patio. We’ll be back again.

Friendly service, generous portions, delicious. Especially loved the shrimp stuffed peppers. Will be back!

Excellent Service food and value. First time here, used recommendations from internet

My wife and I went here for dinner on the recommendation of staff where we were staying. While the quantity of food was certainly enough to satisfy most anyone we didn’t think the food was anything above average. The real problem is nothing tasted at all spicy to my taste and I’m not even someone who enjoys really spicy food. I had the enchilada, carne asada and quesadilla combo. The asada was the best of the three while the other two were just ok. I’d try somewhere else for Mexican food next time. But the staff was very pleasant.

We were looking for something new for lunch and went to El Mexicali Cafe on Monroe street. The restaurant was lively and we got a booth. Our server was helpful. I ordered a skinny margarita which was very tasty. we started with Chiles Gueritos and my date followed with the signature fajitas. She said that she enjoyed it and the staff made sure it was gluten and dairy free. My main dish was a camarones dish where large prawns were wrapped in bacon and baked. Very delicious. The prices for the meals were all good and the margaritas were also well prices.

Very popular and busy. They, like many businesses are struggling to find workers. They looked to be at least 3-5 people short. No hostess to seat you or welcome you.Food was good. Authentic Mexican. Their poppers are famous and delicious. Very unique flavor.Overall I would have rated a 3.5 because they are better than a 3 but not a solid 4.

My family and I were eager to come eat here but none of our expectations were met. We had a horrible customer service. Upon arrival we were told that it’d be about a 20 minute wait since there was another family in front of us. We were ok with that and waited. About 30 minutes later a waitress came out and asked who was next. We automatically gave the family in front of us their place as next in line when two white American men stood in front of us totally ignoring that we were there telling the waitress that they were there before us and that we should get attended after them. None of this being true at all, we were there first. Like 10 minutes later the waitress that had first attended us (nothing against her she was polite and gave us our spot) came out to lead us to our table when the other waitress comes out and tells us that the two men are first. While we were trying to sort things out the two men race towards the table and sit down claiming that they should be attended first. The second waitress did nothing about it and just told us to wait for the next available table. In that moment we felt the discrimination and the intensity of the situation when everybody was looking at us. We left the place. They don’t even deserve to name their restaurant Mexicali because in Mexicali we have never been treated this way. Overall such an embarrassing and horrible experience and it’s sad that my younger brothers had to experience this first hand. Doesn’t even deserve a one star rating.

A very good first impression! Friendly and efficient service with great food and a full bar. The portions were large and delicious, and reasonably priced. Their location by the train track my turn you off, but give them a try! Inside dining is limited to about 25 and plenty of outside patio dining.

Im sorry but need more flavor plus for wat I order I was disappointed wit little pieces of stake and 5 small shrimps

I had a wonderful time with my grandchildren there. I was catching up with them in Indio. The restaurant fixed my carne asada burrito just the way I love it. Margarita was good. And the company was even better. Service was nice and they allowed my little dog there. Was a lovely lunch at El Mexicali!
