Have lived in HB my entire life... so know the family who owns this business. Dirty, unintelligent people who use drugs. Looking at A lot of the reviews... seems they probably use them while baking ?
I loved it so much growing up, but now they sell old, stale cake slices at full price without warning. I wish I could say it was an isolated experience with unfresh items. I’m sure if you special order, the cakes would be good, but stopping by for a half dozen pieces from the inventory has resulted in disappointment several times now. I am heart broken over it. This was always a favorite place of mine for the last 45 years…The service was great, though.
I ordered cake Box cupcakes for an event I was coordinating. I made my initial order with the owner Cynthia. Cynthia charged me for cupcakes, sprinkles and individual cupcake boxes. She later told someone involved in the event that she was not going to follow through with the individual cupcake boxes because she didn’t have time. She never called me directly about the issue. Cynthia kept having her staff speak to me. The staff went behind Cynthia’s back and said she was sorry I was being treated poorly by Cynthia. Cynthia never would respond to me when I called and left messages and spoke to her staff about canceling my order. I tried to cancel two weeks before the event. Cynthia refused to give me a refund. The cupcakes were super late the day of the event, no sprinkles and no cupcake boxes. The cupcakes were frozen and stale tasting. I have witnesses from the event who can verify when the cupcakes arrived. I don’t have any reason to not tell the truth. Cake Box received their money and I have nothing to prove. All the guests to our event complained. We were giving the cupcakes away as a favor and we were embarrassed. I called Cynthia to talk to her after the event and she hung up on me. What an incredible unprofessional business owner. I would not use this bakery. Cynthia has no problem taking customers’ money and not trying to make things right on the order.Update: I saw the response from Cake Box and it is full of lies. First, I am not a manager of CatNap. I am just a customer who was buying the cupcakes as a donation to CatNap for their event. Our 60 cupcakes without the sprinkles and boxes cost 180 dollars. No discount was given. I don’t have any issue that Cake Box didn’t provide a discount of want to donate. That is their choice. I just was asking if they wanted to donate to the non-profit as many other businesses in the area did. I spoke to Cynthia Rule in August and received a quote. Cynthia Rule herself told me she was the owner and that Paul, the previous owner, still bakes for the bakery. I met Paul one day at the bakery and the staff verified to me that Cynthia Rule is the current owner. I spoke in detail to Cynthia and her staff, Elizabeth. I paid for the cupcakes in September.. one month prior to the event. Elizabeth, cake Box staff, told me that she would do the boxes for me because she felt bad that Cynthia took my money but then decided not to do the boxes. Cynthia marched down to CatNap and left my boxes there. I don’t work at CatNap!!! Cynthia had my email and phone number but never called me. I can’t imagine why Cynthia could not call me and tell me herself that she had issues with the order. Why not be professional and chat with your customer? You don’t take a customer’s boxes to a business that knew nothing of the order. Cake Box is a LLC. Cynthia is listed as the owner on the business and health licensing. Perhaps the “real” owner should call me as Cale Box has my phone number. I know Cynthia is the owner as she told me and then disguised her voice when I called to complain. What owner does that? Cynthia needs to just own up to her unprofessional behavior, make things right for her customers and move on from the experience. Do better next time. Try to work with customers when they have complaints.I can’t believe this establishment would even go to the extent to lie like this. Staff from Cake Box told me the truth about what Cynthia , the owner, was doing. I would never order anything from Cake Box again. And, yes, I will continue to warn customers about your disreputable business.
We were so very lucky to have found this special place. The baumkuchen is so delicious, a very special treat. We've been enjoying it for years. The stollen at Christmas is very good, bur the baumkuchen is always #1. Always happy with the customer service. Great experience every time. Just love the baumkuchen!! You gotta try it, you'll get hooked. Thank you for making this delight.
The cake is wonderful, we’ve ordered from here twice and the quality of the cake is amazing! If you’re planning a party we don’t recommend the customer service unfortunately it wasn’t ready for pickup time (although they delivered to the venue for the inconvenience). Absolutely amazing cake however a little stressful with the customer service.
I wish I had a positive review like the others about their items, but I feel like I kept getting the run around. I did an online quote last Friday (11/19) for a custom birthday cake and to see if they could do it. Elizabeth emailed me and advised she would call me the following day to discuss. Never got a phone call. Received an email four days later advising that due to the date I needed it (12/5), they were unable to fulfill my request. I mentioned I could pick it up the previous day and asked for the quote. Elizabeth said that was fine and that she would email me later that day with all the information. I never heard back from her and time was running out on my end to find a place to make a custom cake. I ended up driving 45 minutes north up to Torrance and went with a local bakery that I have used before.Overall, I was very disappointed with the lack of communication and what felt like I was being given the run around. I understand the holiday season gets a bit hectic, but if you are too busy to give quotes, then maybe you should stop taking quotes/orders at a certain date during holidays.
I waited 10 .minutes without saying a word,One customer was being helped. Others working there would walk in and out of the entry area, very small entry area, and they just stared at me and went back into the back. When in the second customer came in a person from the back came right out and tried to help her. I said I've been waiting 10 minutes and I expect to be helped first. The person working behind the counter ignored me, so I said it again. I added, I paid $60 for this cake 3 days ago all you have to do is reach up and hand it to me and you can't even do that before helping people who came 10 minutes after I arrived??I left several messages for the owner and never heard back, so I'm letting everyone know what they might run into if they go there. I wish the owner had called back.
HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE!! DISGUSTING FROZEN CUPCAKES. LYING, DISHONEST OWNER WHO REFUSES TO OWN UP TO HER POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF I COULD LEAVE A ZERO ....THIS PLACE NEEDS IT. I was purchasing cupcakes for an event. I spoke to the Cake Box owner, Cynthia, personally to discuss the order. She has an attitude right off saying she is the only bakery in Huntington Beach and does as she wants. I had second thoughts of using her but figured it will be the easiest to use Cake Box as I'm reserving a restaurant next to Cake Box for my event. 50 cupcakes to be in separate cupcake boxes, with sprinkles. $3.00 per cupcake. A week later, I called to confirm order with Elizabeth who said the owner would do 60 cupcakes for me at $3.00 including sprinkles and cupcake boxes. I paid $180 on 9/13/21. I left town to deal with burial plans for my mother. I get a frantic call a few days later from the poor owner of a cat rescue that I'm coordinating the event for in October. A "irritated woman named Cynthia" comes into the cat rescue and says she doesn't have time to put the cupcakes in separate boxes. The cat rescue owner has nothing to do with the order. Cynthia the owner of Cake Box has my phone number but doesn't call me. I call Elizabeth at Cake Box because Cynthia doesn't respond to customers. Elizabeth apologizes for the owner and says that she will attempt to help me by even putting the cupcakes in the boxes herself. I ask Elizabeth to have Cynthia call me. No call from Cynthia. I assume all is going to be fine. Prior to the event, I stop by to chat with Elizabeth. It is apparent that she is going to get in trouble if she puts the cupcakes in boxes for us. I ask her to get a refund. She tells me that since I already paid that I can't get a refund. I am a two weeks away from my event. I ask for the owner, Cynthia to call me. No call from owner. The event occurs. Cupcakes are not delivered on time to the restaurant a few doors down from Cake Box. I had to go ask for the cupcakes. CUPCAKES NOT DELIVERED ON TIME. Our event was started...cupcakes couldn't be displayed on pretty trays since they were delivered so late. They are delivered in large boxes NO SEPARATE BOXES. NO SPRINKLES. CUPCAKES TASTE FROZEN AND STALE. THEY ARE AWFUL. COMPLAINTS FROM EVENT GUESTS WERE NUMEROUS. I call and leave a message with Elizabeth from Cake Box to have Cynthia the owner call me about the issues with the order. No response from owner. I call on October 23, 2021. The owner answers the phone. I recognize her voice. I am very good with voice recognition. I ask her if she is Cythnia, the owner, and proceed to tell her that I called earlier in the week to talk to her about my complaint with the order. She then says that "Yes, we got your message and we have no intention of calling you back" I was very professional at all times with staff, Elizabeth. and can't imagine a business owner not wanting to problem solve to make a customer happy. I then tell her that I know she is the owner and that I really want to discuss with her the issues about the cupcakes. I tell her that I will report her to my credit card company and the BBB if she is unwilling to discuss her failure to provide me with the services I paid for. Again, cupcakes not delivered on time, no sprinkles, no separate boxes. Cynthia tells me she doesn't care and to go ahead and do what I want. She hangs up the phone on me. Mind you, I have been professional at all times. I then leave her a voice message after the hang up to tell her that she doesn't deserve to be a business owner in the community of Huntington Beach and that I will make sure that I alert others of her dishonest and despicable display of professionalism. DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUE...IT WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED. YOU WILL GET FROZEN BAKED GOODS . YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR AND DISCUSSED IN YOUR ORDER. I am willing to chat with anyone about my experience because this business is unethical and I want others to avoid the experience
Ordered Birthday Halloween cupcakes and they were a hit... so dang good. Definitely ordering again...
And a grandson is making fake credit cards with your information and stealing her money. You have not looked into the matter because I witnessed your grandson's making credit cards from your invoices... with my own two eyes and I'm willing to testify
