OMG! So, I arrived at 20:20 on a sleepy (but nice) Wednesday. There was a single couple at a table (1 of maybe 10-ish). The server said that they were closed. (The published closing time is 21:00, so I figured that arriving before 20:30 was safe.) I was alone (on business) & the server could see the disappointed look in my eyes, so he asked the chef/owner if she would cook for me. She said sure. The server then became very professional towards me, and I had one of the best meals I've had in a very long time! After briefly chatting with the server and the chef/owner, I feel like a regular there already.

As always, Chef Melba's does not disappoint. The atmosphere is intimate, and Chef Melba's presence in the dining room adds authenticity to the atmosphere. We had a wonderful dinner with friends and a lemon dessert that was out of this world. I have but one suggestion - include some Oregon pinot noirs on the wine list - they are fabulous!
This gem of a place is THE BEST. Chef Melba and John are masters of their crafts. The food and wine is incredible and the service is so kind and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious -- Chef Melba even made a special vegetarian pasta dish for me that was not on the menu. It's the best restaurant in Hermosa without a doubt -- you have to try it if you haven't.

Chef Melba is the best. Her menu has a lot to offer, all high quality, tasty dishes. Service is attentive, but not overwhelming. The setting is intimate. You can see Melba plate dishes as she prepares meals. Dessert and wine choices are excellent. We recommend that you try Chef Melba's if you haven't already. It's great for special occasions as well as a nice night out.
The restaurant is small and cozy. Great for date night. Food is excellent.

This is a beautiful small restaurant a block off the beach. The menu offers an array of flavors that should please every palate. But the best part was taking a bite of something that would seem basic and simple and being transported by how delicious it was.
