Oooh, aaaaah, meh, blaaaahhh!! Beautiful space, gorgeous presentation a few yummy bites but that’s about it! When we arrived at 8:05pm for our 8:15 reservation we were told to go away and have a drink at another restaurant. Not a great start… then we were seated and saw a lovely presentation of our first few bites. All good there but after that single thread delivered a single note of flavors. I get the seasonal menu from the farm, but does everything have to have a tomato or cucumber juice, jelly component to it? Not very inventive or interesting and most dishes were overly seasoned, very heavy handed on the salt and did nothing to compliment the Japanese style of cooking it strives for, which should be flavorful, but delicate and full of Umami. Don’t even get me started on the dessert, let’s just say one had a gush of cucumber juice bursting in your mouth. The server had to exhaustively explain to each table to “be careful to take it in one bite and to not let the juices burst out of your mouth!” ?disgusting… then to top it all off our bill came $$$$3k for 4 ppl and all of us ended the night with an upset stomach and in the toilet. Called the manager and all he did was to try to tell me it couldn’t of been their restaurant, said he would follow back up with me and never did! So this is what you get for a 3 Michelin star restaurant?, No thanks!!Go to a real one, French Laundry!

Believe the hype. It lived up to the booking and more. When you are dining at an establishment like this, or it's equivalent, the food is without reproach. Any place like this will be a good meal. What sets it apart, and I think what's earned them their stars, is the amazing staff and service. All of the multitude of little things to take care of you and account for your needs and interests - that's what took the meal from simply great to world class. It's expensive but any michelin restaurant usually is. By far the best I've had though. I don't want to be cruel about other fine establishments, but French Laundry is always talked about in Yountville and I just need to say having dined at both this blew FL out of the water.

We stayed at the Inn and dined at the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The stay and the dinner were exceptional and exceeded our expectations. The dinner was the most unique and delicious dining experience; for me, it was better than French Laundry or Kenzo. The food was an elevated mix of Japanese and Sonoma cuisine, really its own genre, respecting the integrity and spirit of kaiseki and farm to table cuisine. The food is not pretentious, but refined elegance and simplicity — really crazy combinations of flavors and textures. The next morning, we had the Japanese and Sonoma breakfast. Another creative and delicious meal. Our room was spacious and comfortable with complimentary beverages and food like a machine that makes Matcha cold tea, bottled yuzu soda from Japan, specialty micro beer brews and wine from Sonoma, house made rice balls with English peas and umeboshi and nori, plus more delights. Needless to say the service was exceptional, personal and attentive. I liked the way all staff members had personalities and weren’t afraid to interact with people while remaining professional. Friendly, interesting people, like someone you would want to get to know. We will always cherish our experience at SingleThread

One of the best dinner tasting menus around. Definitely worth the price. It makes my top 5!

The experience is better for photos than eating. Food is overall uninteresting and sometimes oversalted with a nice presentation. Good if you just want to show off, bad if you enjoy food. No idea why this got 3 stars

The best dining experience we ever had! I love floral designs so I appreciate their artistic way of presenting every dish. We already have a gift card and are ready to use it as long as they get an opening

This was our third stay in the inn, our first experience with their in-room dining. We leisurely enjoyed a 4 course meal, which featured a seafood donabe hot pot. The seafood was plentiful, more than we could eat. While dinner in the restaurant is of course the best way to enjoy the Single Thread dining experience, in-room dining allows for a more intimate meal, where you eat at your own pace in your comfortable room. In the morning, the Japanese breakfast is a must. The inn is wonderful, whether you book the suite or a guest room. Little edible treats, prepared downstairs in advance, are a nice plus. The ice cream is always terrific.

Breathtaking and thoughtful menu, absolutely delicious food, and incredibly kind and attentive service. I’ve had the privilege of attending a few highly rated restaurants, but this was far and away the best. I cannot recommend it enough.

A truly delightful experience.Ambience and atmosphere:The place is extremely elegant while being warm, sober, and relaxed at the same time.It really conveys that welcoming feeling of a familiar place. The staff is kind, respectful, helpful and absolutely non-intrusive.For the whole evening I had a feeling I was in a friend's living room.Nothing about the dinner is about "their show" (as it can happen in highly accomplished restaurants like this). The balance between eccelence and "ease" was just perfect.Food:Beautiful, delicious, with careful combination of flavors. A lot of the menu is pescatarian.I loved that all the dishes had a "local connection", both in the presentation and in the choice of ingredients. All in all, there was not a single thing I didn't like.

Jus walk into the lobby and you’ll be transported to a different world. Decor is insane from the Origami tree to the view of the kitchen. FYI you have to stay at the Inn just to get the breakfast ??? Bucket list and a half. It’s a serious 4 hour dinner and you must like small portions aka a tasting menu but this place is Amazing.
