A nice safe outdoor tasting with friends. You can't go wrong. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff at a remarkable facility.
I went here today with a couple of friends for a tasting. It was really fun and the Pinot noirs were so good. Nice earthy and fruity tones. The grounds are super pretty. I love the walk up to the tasting room and walking down from the back the stairs are a bit slanted which was cool. They were having a spring market event with cool vendors like jewelry, candles things like that. There was this cool taco truck that also sold sandwiches. I tried the pulled pork melt with two types of cheeses on sourdough. It was absolutely amazing. Want to come back for sure.
If I could give this place a zero, I would. My 2 friends and I went to Rodney Strong on 3/12/22 around 12:30 for my friends birthday. Upon walking in, there were immediate stares from 2 older men and an older women. We were greeted by a third gentleman who was very pleasant. We sat down and continued to be stared out by the other 2 men and the woman. Not the “do you need help stare”, but a stand there and uncomfortably stare type of thing. Everyone in my group felt uncomfortable. There was one man who walked by our table and stared at us the entire walk to the back area. The gentleman who helped us (the pleasant man who initially helped us) came by and greeted us and poured out first tasting. We tried to ignore the stares from the others and just enjoy our time there. The man helping us then decided to tell us a “funny story” about an experience with a group of North Africans while on his journey in Portugal. He explained that he was going through a check point that was heavily guarded by “Africans”. There was not funny part to his story. Did I mention my group was 2 black women (myself included) and a Hispanic women. A “funny” story for who, I am wondering?? Not sure if that was his way of connecting with us, but it was awkward and uncomfortable. The third tasting came around and It tasted odd to me, like it had been open for too long. I’m not a “professional” wine drinker, but it tasted odd to me. I mentioned this to the man helping us and said that maybe he should taste it because it tasted odd. I see him take the wine back and whisper to his group of gawking co-workers (yes, they are all still staring off and on) and they all roll their eyes. He then comes back with a white wine and immediately tells me that the bottle cost $19. Not one of the other pours did he mention price. Let me be clear, cost is not an issue. I dropped $80 on a bottle of rosè bubbles at J vineyard last week. At that point I was ready to leave. I felt so uncomfortable. As a black female walking into a room of 60+ year old white men and women and to be stared at for the duration of my visit and then made to feel as though my taste in wine is cheap, by noting the price point of a cheaper bottle, was ridiculous and offensive. I will never return to this place, nor will I recommend it to my friends or family. Your wine room staff are unprofessional, RACIST and inappropriate. This is 2022 and you should give your staff classes on tolerance, implicit bias and overall common sense. It is not okay to stare at people. As a person of color, I am embarrassed for your company. For your staff to be 2 and a half times my age and think it is okay to behave this way is absolutely inexcusable. It is equally inexcusable that you allow it to happen.
Came here for a tasting and can't say enough good things! The tasting room staff is so knowledge and passionate about their wines. They took the time to answer our questions about not just the wines we were tasting but the entire process starting from where the grapes come from and how they are picked to what the different varieties consisted of and where we could find their wines back home. Great experience and even better wine. Highly recommend the rose and the Brothers vintage!
Doug and Katie were awesome! We had an amazing time with some of the best wines we have ever had.
Rodney Strong added a $20 per person charge for my group on top of the standard $30 per person tasting despite not informing me of this or having their pricing policy stated anywhere that they up-charge for any group over 8 people (my group was 9). There was no change to the tasting experience and so they charge $50 instead of $30 simply for the privilege of you bringing more paying customers to their venue. Difficult customer service and terrible policy.
Went here back in July 2015 for a Kenny Loggins concert and just realized I never wrote a review. The grounds and buildings are immaculate, it is a beautiful location and the staff here are amazing. The next day I came back and bought a few bottles and their wine is absolutely delicious. Sadly I haven't seen it where I live now, but I would definitely buy more if I could and I would definitely go to future concerts or other events here as well.
Fun, friendly, informative. Great wines!
Amazing service. Ray was amazing and took care of our group of 10. Hes a veteran and had multiple vets in the group and was so sweet and accommodating to us. We can get a little rowdy but he gave us the best experience. I couldnt ask for a better place and wine. 10/10 recommend to everyone. If you get Ray, hes the best and gives an amazing experience and seriously funny. I love this place and he made this birthday event a day to remember. Thank you so much Rodney Strong for hiring great people to work and creating an amazing environment.
I have always felt very welcome there. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating
