We did the vineyard hike in July 2019 and again in July 2022. It was wonderful both times. In 2022, Devin was our guide and he fit in really well with our group of six. The wines we tried were awesome and the sandwiches provided at lunch were delicious too. The hardest choice we had is trying to decide how many bottles of wine to ship home. We ended up ordering 2 cases. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone.
Took the vineyard hike with lunch. Was excellent. Learned the history not only of this vineyard but the valley. Learned about the grape varieties and organic and sustainability practices. Lunch sandwiches are huge and very good quality. Their wine caves are incredible. Total time was about 2 hours with lunch. Amazing place very well worth it!! Wine is awesome.
Shaun did a great job with our cave tour! Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff and doggies to greet you - what can be better? Also, it’s nice not to have the pressure for everyone to taste and pay crazy money for the tasting. This visit reminded me why I fell in love with this region 20 years ago!
We recently visited Alexander Vineyards for a corporate retreat and were lucky enough to stay at a cottage on property. We cannot say enough good things about this winery, the accommodations and the staff. While we were there we were given a tour and a tasting and everything was beautiful and the wine was delicious. We would definitely do another corporate retreat at this winery and we cannot wait to come back!
AVV is a hidden gem in wine country. After exploring Alexander Valley and the adjacent Dry Creek, and Russian River valley's, I was surprised by the wholistic experience presented by AVV. The staff tending to the wine and brand is amazingly professional/courteous and informative, even to a beginning wine enthusiast. The offering for tours, tastings, and clubs is very appealing and beyond reasonable. And all of this is punctuated by the location, the beauty of the winery, and the historical exclamation mark with which they blow any other winery I've visited out of the water. Oh yes, and the wine is fantastic.
We researched Sonoma County wineries for weeks ahead of our visit. Our quest was to find friendly, unpretentious wineries with great wine that was still budget friendly. We knew this wouldn’t be easy, that we were aiming high, and if we could come somewhat close we would consider it a success. Alexander Valley Vineyards hit the mark! Wonderfully made high-end wines at reasonable prices, a comfortable, friendly tasting room, and very knowledgeable people. We couldn’t have enjoyed the experience - or the wines more!
We enjoyed the cave tour! Mark served as our guide for the tour and served us for our tasting. He was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Our tasting was much more enjoyable because of his kindness and sense of humor. We won't forget his generosity and hospitality. You will enjoy the visit and especially the excellent wine!!
We very much enjoyed the cave tour! Our guide was informative and included the history of the winery. Small but pleasant tasting room with a porch. A complimentary tasting selection was available.... Unusual these days! Would definately stop in again! Thank you!
Really enjoyed the wine cave tour! Excellent staff and really great wine. Affordable wine club!
Highly recommend AVV!! We had an amazing time. The experience was very personalized, private, and enjoyable. The staff was with us all the while, talking about the wine and the area. We then requested a walk through their cave even though we weren't there during a standard tour time slot. I was only asking for us to take a quick peek but they gave us a tour, walking us through their massive cave, and educating us about the various steps in the process. Oh, almost forgot to mention... the wine was wonderful. Try the Primitivo ;)
