Great burgers!! My favorite is the papa burger with bacon hella good! They are only open weekends but close kinda early but it is definitely worth waiting for, another reason to look forward to the weekend ! Best burgers in Hayward area.
Great food and excellent service! As of 2/26/2022, there is no indoor dining, but they do bring the order out to your car. Only burgers, some sides, and drinks were available, but what was available was delicious. Will definitely be coming back
Don’t call them hamburgers… these are the best “steak”burgers in the Bay Area IMO. If you’re the right age, the burgers will take you back to the backyard cookouts of your youth. Crispy/tender steak fries too; how can you go wrong? This family owned burger spot has been open for more than 50 years and is incredible. I’m so excited that they’re open again (I was worried).I’m writing this review in February 2022, and they just re-opened due to the coronavirus pandemic with very limited hours, offering call-in/takeout service only with a limited menu, and is still cash only as always. I just went the other day and was reminded how much I love the burgers and how much is missed them. I’m eagerly awaiting for them to fully reopen so I can have a root beer float or milkshake with my burger and fries.

Vals is the best, make a Burger to die for always have and always well baby, mama, and papa burgers are awesome, best in the world by far, and the owner and his family are top-notch. I highly recommend this business!

Limited hrs now.Two burgers Nd onions rings was $36 bucks.Ouch.Cash only.Hard to eat something so good in the car….head to park or marina .
We've been hitting Val's every Friday and Saturday since July of this year 2021 (except 9/17/21 & 9/18/21 when they took a break).They are open for takeout via phone orders only: Friday and Saturday 11am - 5pm. With only a 2-day supply of fresh food, if food runs out early on Sat, they have no choice but to close early. So hit it early, or call during the opening hours before you go.To order, call ahead or from the car in the parking lot.Now, on to the food. The burgers are out of this world!- Meat is super flavorful and juicy, cooked to perfection how you order. Quality is so good, you (I mean I) could order rare.- Cheese is thicker than at most burger joints, melted just right. You actually see the whole smooth melted slice, rather than just melted bits scattered on the patty because the slice was too thin.- Bacon is two long and wide strips of pork fat heaven, unlike the short and narrow ones elsewhere.Stacked together, you get a yummilicious burger that is to die for! Every. Single. Time.Even though there're now only burgers (with condiments), fries and onion rings on the menu, we don't need anything else.3 months into this groove of 2 Mama burgers every week, we're still so addicted to them, Fri&Sat can’t come fast enough for our fix.The takeout-only option is in no way a deterrent at all - with our own utensils, plates and trays, we take our time savoring in our car in the parking lot.The staff is now family only, so manpower is limited. The two whom we always talk to - daughter who takes phone orders and brings out food to cars, and father who’s owner and the only chef - are very friendly.

Unbelievably overrated and overpriced for a bland, bitterly charred patty that's too chewy and springy. Even 5 guys is leagues ahead in meat quality. If you're intent on spending this much on a char burger go to The Counter instead and enjoy a much higher quality burger. Or try Rocky's Charcoal Grill in San Leandro.
One of the last places in the bay you can get a real charbroiled burger. Everything is good
