Went here for my birthday with my family. It was a nice casual atmosphere. The food was really good and the service was super friendly. There wasn't a huge variety on the menu compared to some other sushi places, but each dish is done really well with great quality ingredients. Definitely a good no frills sushi spot.
Had a great experience eating at Sapporo. Really enjoyed the vibe of the step up seating area with a nice view of the bar and restaurant. Barley tea and Hamachi Gama were perfect ways to start the meal. Tried out the Go Go Cherry which the pairing of unagi and lemon really surprised me in a good way, it was quite tasty. The 49ers roll was also pretty solid and huge! The shrimp tempura within, would have liked more crunch though surely that's hard to achieve with the sauce and topping, etc. I really also liked the plating of the rolls, it was a nice presentation. Overall, just dropped to give it a try and left definitely wanting to try it again. Thanks for the nice dining experience.
My daughter's reply to:Is this sushi better than Sam's?Answer:I would never trade Sam's sushi with anyone else. I can't wait to be back home to savor Sam's sushi ?.Y'all should know that we travel half this country and do try local restaurants. Indeed, Sam's sushi is the best. Never have i had a better one. Enjoy your meal!
Not the absolute best i have had but considering the other options in the area it is very very good and fresh. Best was in monterey and sf but will still give a 5 star. Since those would be 6 stars if it went that high.
They let us in a few minutes early before service, it was also cold so thanks. Greeted quickly and the decor was beautiful. I felt like I was in someone's home. I felt... Welcome. They told us to sit anywhere we'd like, and a few minutes later they requested us to move for a large party that they said was coming. Spoiler alert, we were there for an hour, no hint of a party. They did move the tables though. We ordered water, tea, a pint of draft, oysters, mussels, and sushi. The tea was warm. Like sitting room temperature warm. I didn't like it. The beer had well over an inch of head. No easy way to say this, it was a really bad pour.Mussels and sushi were great. I then asked, who I believed to be a supervisor of sorts, where the oysters were from and how long before we get them (It was the first thing we ordered and I asked after waiting 20-30min). His response vague. Oysters are from Asia, near Japan. And they take as long as they take to make. He's not wrong. When they finally came, they were pretty good.Overall it was an okay experience. Staff was really really nice. Food was good, the restaurant was clean.
We purchased takeout for three and had a long wait but received plenty of food with our three orders of combination dinners and it was delicious, yet enough for two meals.
This place was recommended to us Out of Towners by a local. What a great choice! We've been eating at a few Japanese restaurants and this is in the top 2 that we visited. Everyone was fresh, the beer cold and the sake hot.
Lunch with co-workers, was craving for noodle soup. I had the Vegetables Udon soup, it was the best one I had so far, very refreshing loved it. Will definitely go again. ?
Sapporo never disappoints!! Sam & the whole staff are always FANTASTIC & Priscilla, our waitress tonight, was super friendly & funny, too. One of Hayward's hidden gem restaurants, for sure. ?
Gotta try the infused sake! Thanks Nick!
