Seafood Cantonese Dim Sum

Used to be good but after the pandemic, not so much. Wondering if there has been a change in the chef?

Service was kinda there?Food was kinda inconsistent between "ok why am I paying this much for this" and "this is alright".Maybe I came at a bad time, but 1230 should still be a prime lunch time.

Dim sum ‘n dim sum

I’ve been here multiple times and every time it was amazing. It seems that during lunch hour most people get dim sum but I just gotta say the entrees are also really good - the lobster e-mein and bbq dishes are my favorite.

Pleasure Ocean offers traditional Cantonese seafood and dim sum in a pleasant atmosphere.Their dim sum selection is extensive and includes both traditional favorites as well as several items that are not commonly found in other restaurants or are unique to them. Unfortunately this visit, a few items that seemed interesting were lined out on the order form and were unavailable. That said, the dishes we ordered were excellent across the board. Among the traditional items that are really well done: char siu bao (steamed and baked), pork with black bean sauce, pork blood with green onion, roast pork (on the expensive side but absolutely worth it), baked pork buns, choy sum, coconut and black rice pastry, egg tarts, and more. To begin with, the quality of the pork and other meats is readily apparent; the BBQ pork used in the char siu bao and other dishes is neither too sweet nor salty. The roast pork, while more expensive compared to elsewhere, is equally well done with a nice, crunchy skin and good balance of meat and fat. The plating shows they take pride in their meat. The dough in their dim sum is among the lightest I've ever eaten in any Cantonese restaurant. We ordered over ten dishes and while we did pack a few to take home, we did not leave the restaurant feeling heavy and bloated.Service is very good and staff are fairly easy to get hold of. Granted it gets a little hectic during peak times on a weekend, but still we did not encounter any issue when we needed service. As said earlier, prices are a little higher here, particularly when ordering certain dishes. However, the overall quality of the food, the ingredients, plus a nice somewhat luxurious atmosphere make it worthwhile.

I went there for dinner tonight, and it was such a disappointment. The food tastes terrible, and I can cook better than that.First of all, the duck I ordered was way too salty, and the dipping sauce is even saltier. The color of the duck looked old, and the meat was not tender at all. The second dish was the sweet garlic ribs. When the actual ribs did not look anything like the picture on their menu, I thought they gave me the wrong food. I took a bite and did not thoroughly cook it. No flavor, I can still taste the starch. After I asked them to recook it, the food came half cold.Seafood fried rice also didn't look like the picture on the menu, flavorless, same as the vegetables.Overall, the four dishes I ordered was not fresh, came out half cold, the duck was salty, and the other three dishes had no flavor.I went there at 5 pm, till I left at 6:30, only two customers were there (me included). I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Okay dim sum if you don’t want to wait. Went on Sunday around 11am and got a seat right away for a table of 6.We had to wait over 30min to get our credit card back cause they forgot about us. Would have given 3 stars if not for that.Food quality is middle of the road. I think their pastry dishes are probably the best so treat yourself to a nice dessert.Dishes to avoid:-XLB (pork soup dumplings) are no bueno. Comes in a mini egg tart tin, but has barely any soup and no flavour-Rice roll Chinese donut (hard dry donut, really sad to look at)

Great food, great service. What more can you ask for.

Very heavy MSG in the dim sum, heaving headache and fatigue symptoms, ? ?

Get straight into topic:Dim Sum: 5 StarDinner: 4 StarService: 3-5 Star (I went there a couple times and had different services and most were good)Price: $$ (Prices were okay for most but for some it really is a bit high)Cleanliness: 3 StarDecoration: 5 StarOverall: 4.2 Star (Gave 5 star since the Google ratings were lower than expected)Don’t expect the portion sizes to be big since they are an expensive high-quality Chinese food restaurant. The food comes out rather quickly comparing to other Dim Sum places I went to. Would recommend going there maybe once in a week or a month, good place for gatherings, good parking lots. I would recommend going there for lunch then go shopping or to the movies since they’re location is right next to a AMC and Puente Hills Mall. Could go there right now since they just reopened, there’s not much people.
