Me and my girlfriend used to like it and give great word of mouth. We had a few not so good meals but we were loyal. We went without a reservation and got a spot at the bar. I asked if we could get a table when one opens. I then got a meal I didn't order which I chose to eat. After half an hour and seeing many tables open I asked about a table. She replied that she would clear on in 5 to 10 minutes. After our meals were done and it had been an additional 40 minutes I told our waitress I guess no table. She got very rude and when I defended myself I was told she was young and I said that's no excuse for rudeness. We went back one more time and my girlfriend got raw salmon that we were told that is how we cook it. They heated the same salmon and proceeded to treat us horribly. We were loyal customers and it's sad that the owner(who saw the whole thing) did nothing.
We had the lasagne and shrimp and avocado salad with a nice glass of wine. Our server was very nice and attentive. The meals were prepared well and presented nicely. The cost was not cheap, however, the portion size of lasagne was enough for 2 meals and the salad had 14 very nicely prepared shrimp--a generous serving. In the background was Spanish Flamenco music which added to the atmosphere. We had a pleasant experience. Do not expect Covid precautions- the owner has been very resistant historically.
We were seated in the aisle of a very busy restaurant even though I had made reservations asking for a quiet table. The service was excellent but the food was mediocre at best. No flavor at all and the pasta did not taste fresh. It's too bad as Italian food is not difficult to perfect. Oh yea the prices were way out of proportion for what we received. We won't be back.
We live in Grass Valley and have loved going to Sergio's since we moved here 5 years ago. But in the last year, they have really changed. We made two reservations both in December and both times we were met by a blonde rude hostess and neither reservation was kept. The first time, the blonde slammed tables together to accommodate us. The second time, this same blonde said that she could ask their friends to move. I declined and said we would wait for the lady with the dog and one glass of wine to leave, needless to say this lady was so rude knowing we were waiting she just sat there. She finally left and my family and I decided to go to MARIE'S and eat. Best decision ever. Needless to say, I will not eat there again nor will the many guests who visit me.
Always a great meal here.Never disappointed! And very accommodating as we did not have reservations for Valentine's Day. They made it work! And amazing service! It was tight seating, but that was fun getting to know our neighbors and made new friends!
Service and food and environment are all top notch. There's a cohesion between the team serving guests that impresses me because so many restaurants feel like just one person is paying attention to you.
I go almost weekly. Very good service for the most part. I just called in though and Kate was very rude. Condescending/belittling was the tone for no reason. We all have bad days and I can forgive. Nobody is perfect, but please don't take it out on other people.
Unfortunately, the magic is gone.Very poor service topped off with high priced mediocre food. Got the tri-tip salad and smoked salmon. The salmon was poorly prepared and soggy, almost as if poached and not grilled. The salad, which used to be my favorite, was basically some bland meat slapped on a bed of lettuce.Sorry, but I will not return to Sergio's cafe. The staff can treat someone else like they don't exist.
I'll never forget how packed the interior of this restaurant was during the big COVID shutdowns. The food was whatever and took forever. I don't post negative reviews often but them being so anti-shutdown is incredibly disappointing and shows they'd rather help themselves than the community.
The chicken ravioli pesto and the pasta shrimp spinach mushroom special was excellent and the service was great. Reasonable price. Highly recommend.
