How is Best Pizza EVER not one of the available tags for this place? I came here often as a kid and then lived all over the country. After returning for a visit in 2022, can confirm there is no better pizza anywhere.
It's the last Pizza Cookery left!!! A staple for many of us who grew up here. It has been redone and upgraded and looks great. Yes I do miss the the old cards on the ceiling, lol, but the updates are classy. Like the way they left the old pictures of the kids' sports teams they sponsored hanging on the wall. Food was great! Pizza tastes the same as it did years ago. Something about those small pepperonis and the cheese is just different enough (better obviously) than even most craft places. But the go to for my family has always been the antipasto salad with the amazing dressing with the roles that no one can copy. I personally love to add the spaghetti and meat sauce and a couple of meatballs to round out a great meal... and left overs for a day...sometimes..
Garlic Rolls, Salad, Pizza & Ice Cold Budweiser ?
It is all about those rolls. There used to be a place in Van Nuys called Mike's pizza, very similar, but it went away and we spent a good (bad) decade without those amazing rolls. When we were turned on to this place, it was like finding an old friend you thought was long dead. Pizza is great, meatballs are great, wedding soup is great, but it is all about those rolls.
What a gem! We found this place on a whim, actually want to eat at the one on Ventura Blvd. only to find out it was closed permanently. The food and the beer is excellent, but what made it extra special were the people. We were actually welcomed and greeted when we first walked in. We chose to sit outside and the waiter was so friendly and helpful. Then, the Manager came out and asked how we liked it! We eat out a lot and that doesn't happen very often. These people are top notch! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. We will be back! Keep the outside tables if you can, we always like to eat outdoors.
Food is amazing. Promise you'll never go back to eating pizza at places like dominoes or pizza hut when you have quality pizza like this. Their salads are amazing as well, and their rolls are always hot and cheesy. The service is on point, and the mood in the restaurant is always happy.
We have been going to The Pizza cookery for many years. Used to go on Sundays when our kids were young to enjoy the wonderful food and the Magician. The updated renovations look great. Wonderful memories seeing the playing cards mounted in frames on the walls are a nice touch.Love the Blue Cheese and Walnut salad. The rolls are so good and the pizza is yummy. The staff greets you and actually smiles and says ‘Hello’.What a concept! We’ll be back soon.
Excellent eatery absolutely love the protein salad! A combination of crisp romaine, mozzarella cheese topped with fabulous chicken.I love meeting friends at this place. Definitely a great place to dineThank you!?????
Food was good and packaged well for delivery so it wouldn’t get soggy. They followed my special request for onions which I appreciate. Unfortunately they forgot the cheese on my meatball sub.
Pizza is usually amazing here. This review is based on my last experience.Staff is always very friendly! Ordered a pizza for pick up, 1.5 hour wait that's ok it was busy. Asked for pizza to be well done very crispy, it was the opposite. Good flavor but under cooked. Will give them another try of course!
