We tried Red Pepper because they plan to open a restaurant near us in SB soon. We had take out. The food was ready on time and reasonably priced. I tried my usual Kung Pao chicken. It was all good. Nothing bad but nothing memorable. We will return and give it another shot. This is a local joint. No tourist fancy stuff here.
Very awesome family spot! Incredible hospitality ! Great food! Highly recommended:)
Tasty Chinese food and friendly service.
I struck gold! My new go to Chinese restaurant. Food is amazing quality and is so fresh. Get the orange chicken. I repeat- orange chicken. Just do it. Orange. Chicken. And everything else on the menu. Oh and the homemade tofu.
Reopened with Panda Express-style takeout. A bit pricier than before, no lunch special, and okay food.

I went to college at UCSB and I have very fond memories of Red Pepper. I recently came back. The food and customer service is just how I remember it. The onion pancakes are the best and the sauce that comes with it is one of a kind. Best get two orders of onion pancakes! I ordered the orange peel duck for lunch and the portion is very generous. The duck was moist and had crispy skin. Customer service is prompt and courteous. Great small business in Goleta!
I've eaten here for a long time. It has the best Chinese food I've ever tasted, great service (the head waiter even hugs you as you leave), and the restaurant is very clean. One of my top recommendations in Santa Barbara.
Tried for the 2nd and last time. 1st time was dine-in, 2nd was carry-out. Dine-in: The service was exceptional but the chicken was over-cooked. Carry-out: The food was horrendous. One order had no sauce what-so-ever and the sweet and sour sauce was so watered down as to be tasteless. The egg rolls were mushy and tasteless. The onion pancakes were good. Will not be going here again.
I’ve been to the Red Pepper four times in the past year or so. Very good food, relatively low prices, very good service, and very, very, friendly staff. One of them gave me a hug on my way out last time. It’s location off the beaten path in Old Town Goleta makes it a hidden gem and a great neighborhood restaurant. The only complaints I can think of are the decor is plain and minimal, not very impressive when you walk in; and there isn’t much parking for those of us who live beyond walking distance.
