As other have mentioned, you can order fish and chips, clam chowder, shrimp and chips, etc. from Brophy Brothers here. I'm from New England so when I say that they have very good traditional (read NOT California spicy/hot) chowda here, I know of what I speak. The fish and chips are also solid and again, traditional. Not the best I've ever had but such things usually are not found in California. There are also a few satisfying vegetarian options here as well. Will definitely order again when I am in the mood for clam chowda or fish and chips.
Came for fish and chips because it had good reviews. I must say the reviews were very misleading. Nothing about the fish and chips were good. First they were out of tater tots, so settled for fries.Fries tasted old and were soggy and drenched with oil.Fish tasted like it's been in the freezer for months not fresh at all. Extra mushy and soaked with oil just like the fries. The breading didn't even stick to the fish. The fries and fish were really dark brown instead of golden brown and you can taste the old dirty nasty oil they were fried in. Pretty disgusting. You could get better fish and chips from the frozen section at Albertsons. If you want good fish and chips, go elsewhere.
Known for their fried fish tacos, clam chowder, and local beers on tap, On The Alley also offers decent burgers and salads. While their indoor dining room is rather small, their outdoor patio seating area is ample. If you're a fan of crispy fried tater tots, or house-made potato chips, OTA has what you need.
Great fish and chips. My favorite is the deluxe cheese sandwich. I think every thing is great. Friendly and fast service! Thank you.
Baja tacos are great would recommend
Stopped in for lunch on the way thru town. Tried the burger and a BLAT. Really nice bread and buns, the fries and tots were expertly fried. The food didn’t disappoint or amaze, it was simple-classic-good. Dog friendly patio.
Just waited 15 minutes for a corn dog. When we asked about our order, we were told it was “next” then watched as they served orders to 3 customers who ordered well after us. It appears they forgot the order until asked, lying to a customer is a terrible business model! When the order finally came, it was basically shoved over the counter. Apology given? Absolutely not. Terrible customer service! Do NOT recommend!

Great pulled pork sandwich and tasty fries
On the Alley is by the same people who run Brophy Brothers, but is meant to be more casual. I'm a big fan of Brophy's when I'm in town, so having the option to get some fish & chips from them when I'm hungry in Goleta is great. This location is nice because of the amount of outdoor seating, which is particularly nice during COVID. The staff were great when we visited, the food was great, and they have some good local beer options. It's hard to ask for more all considering.
