Also has been here forever. The waiters are excellent, the food is great.... The margaritas- be sure and get one, you'll probably ask for a second. I drink mine on the rocks and they're great.El Sol is a great restaurant for traditional Mexican food
Best Mexican restaurant this side of the Mississippi. If you’re reading this, take it as a sign. You should order from El Sol! Family owned and friendly. They are a shining beacon of hope in LA County.
Manny is sooo sweet and always remembers my families names!!! Food is excellent and very tasty too... Be careful with the Cadillac drinks if you're driving! LOL

The food is amazing and authentic. Nice and very friendly staff. The outdoor patio allowed us to have a nice outdoor late lunch.
Scammers! $15 for watered down house margaritas? They intentionally hide the price on the menu then slam you with this. I asked for a vegetarian burrito option and they said we can do the El Sol burrito without meat and then charged us extra for it! Since when does is few slices of peppers cost more than meat!? We asked the waiter why we were charged top shelf prices and he asked if we wanted to speak to the manager about it. Of course we said yes, then miraculously he was out until Monday?! They are clearly in the game of ripping you off! A house margarita should not cost more than any food item on them menu. As a former waitress, I’m aware of this top shelf up-charge game but would never do that to customers!
Best experience ever..Service was great..Will come back again.The chicken soup was perfect. 1st time I ever tried a real chicken ? soup. YUMMY.. My waiter was a guy.Really nice..and there's a lady aswell very sweet..thumps up...?❤

After reading the reviews for this place on other sites, seems like they have a habit of selectively up-charging customers.
I ordered the Carnitas Picado which barely had 1 piece of carnitas in it but the zuccini and bell peppers did taste good.My wife had the chicken tostata that didn't come with a shell or with any dressing. Apparently you need to order the El Sol Tostada to get the shell. How do you call it a tostada if it doesn't come in a shell? Isn't that just a salad? And the chicken in the "tostada" tasted canned.Finally, when we got the bill, I noticed they charged me for a refill on my fountain coke. I didn't even ask for the refill. They just brought it to the table.I'm assuming we just ordered the wrong things since this place is highly rated but after our experience we'll never come back. There are way better options in Montrose and La Canada.
