Simply put, EVERYTHING WAS BOMB!! I wish we had a Soul Food Shack in San Antonio- I'd go there at least twice a week to eat. The food was so good I'd slap a few Mama's lol.
This place is poppin. I love it. The food is delicious. The menu is easy to read and comprehend. Everything on the menu is good. 2 thumbs up.
Food is good but I never got the cheese hamburger until the other day and oh my God, you would think stop playing, it was just a hamburger but no I can't explain it but that's where I will be getting my hamburgers from now on because the meat was done the bacon was crispy just the way black people eat their food, like human beings lol but rare or medium rare, yuck. But the taste was like no other burger honestly and the fries were fresh cut homemade fries, oh my God, I'm going tomorrow
The family & I wanted to try something different to eat, so we decided on soul food. We waited for at least 25 min for our food. We loved the mac&cheese, red velvet waffles good, turkey chops were dry ?. No lie ox tail was delicious....greens and potato salad on salty side. I liked it but more then likely won't eat there again.
I drove 421 miles for this meal. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I pulled up, NO PARKING!!! No biggie. Went to hotel check-in the. Ordered food for delivery. Don’t matter how long I waited the food was HOT & my Kool aid is was SUPER SWEET!! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I came to this place seeking some good soul food from my hometown. I was really exciting about trying because the reviews were good. When I got to the counter the lady who took my order was completely rude. She didn't greet me, she didn't ask how she could help me, she didn't even ask me what I wanted to eat.She literally just stared at me as if I was in convincing her. I completed my order but at that point my experience was ruined. The only reason I stayed was because I was with other people. After they all had ordered they expressed the same feelings about her. My fiance said it best...she lacks any kind of people skills or friendliness. After waiting about 20 mins my food was ready, I didn't mind the wait because I figured the food would be fresh. Now the young lady who gave me my food had a bad attitude as well. She asked me for my receipt and proceeded to throw it away and I asked her could I have back and I guess that frustrated her. The customer service is so bad im surprised they have any customers. Its so bad that everyone that was waiting for their food complained of the young ladys service. As far as the food goes, I got the oxtail dinner. The food was about $26, which im ok with because typically when you go to a soul food restaurant its pretty pricey. The oxtail was great along with the yams. The macaroni and cheese was ok, not the worst not the best. I also got the kool aid which was $6, it was ok as well. Overall the food was good, had I not had the sour experience with the customer service I definitely would have come back but that service really left a bad taste in my mouth...if the restaurant got some friendly faces it would probably be a gem. Because of my experience as a whole I rated it a 3 star.
It was our first time there. It was suggested to call ahead. We should have listened. Wasn't aware it was only take out, we expected to dine in. It was very busy but the down home cooking was worth the wait. 4 stars for the under seasoned been beans and mushy blacked eyes peas with soggy rice.
Not a lot of parking space but gorgeous space and very well thought out menu. The food was so rich and delicious I wanted more even after I felt myself stuffed. My partner in crime had to take a break from a burger he called "so good" he wished he didn't have to stop haha. If you get the double cheeseburger, maybe split it with a friend. Definitely worth it. Looking forward to try the oxtail next time.
Fried chicken taste burnt probably using the same oil all day . Collard greens little dry . Mac and cheese, potato salad, and corn bread are ok. Service was great place looks very clean. I will come back to try other items. Oh I almost forgot smothered turkey chops was good.
Staff is polite , if not rather distracted by their personal conversations, food is made quickly and is hot and orders are correct- it's salty " southern fare" so it's close to what granny would make! Pricing is also fair. The down sides are that it's is not dine-in friendly, and the R& B music they play is loud and a bit annoying when you have to speak up loudly to make your order.
