Good selection of dim sum considering the very limited number of restaurants serving dim sum in the south bay. Go earlier in the AM if you want your items to be fresh. Feels a bit pricy at $5+ per dish
Great dim sum and great service! Although I miss the ladies pushing carts full of steamers, the food and service are still wonderful.

Basically one of the only places to get sit down dim sum in South Bay, would not say it’s the best because the best is in MPK! Make sure to come during busier times, I came with my husband at 10am on a Sunday one time and the food was really cold and not fresh, but I came back another time a little later like 12pm and food was really hot and fresh.
Dinner with Rey and Neil
My first time there, I didn't get to sit down when the servers brought dishes, named each dish and sat it on the table - my sister decided because she knew the restaurant - I stood not knowing what was going on but it was all good. Worth it!Dishes were presented on a rolling cart, hot and ready to eat in a metal container this preserving its temperatures, desserts were also brought on a rolling cart in an enclosed plexiglass for viewing and choosing.Dining note:(Any time you eat foods at a higher elevation, it doesn't taste the same as eating foods at sea level. California is at sea level, I live in a state that is 4,000+ feet above sea level and the same foods don't have the equivalent taste.)
Ok so we went to eat dim sum it was good but the prices were little high for its quality and size. We ate prime rib for dinner elsewhere and IT WAS CHEAPER THAN DIMSUM!!
If you're into Dim Sum, Sea Empress will not disappoint you. We've had the best in Chinatown (when it was better), Monterey Park, San Francisco and overall, Sea Empress is up there with the best as they are consistent with their quality. It's not the best Dim Sum we've had, but we would say top 5 and they've been around and maintain their quality. The other dishes are quite good as we've hosted many larger parties. In our opinion, the key to our food reviews is the quality of their food. If you expect superb service from "dim sum" spots, you'll be disappointed most of the time as it's "okay" service in general. We don't sweat the small stuff and focus on the food itself, not the service (as waiters come and go). We would expect superb service from Michelin star rated or $$$$ priced restaurants.
First time coming here. Not really sure why the place has such bad reviews. I liked the food and the service. Although, sometimes the food can be a bit cold but the server brought us fresh servings everytime we asked her. I'd come come back!
A nice experience outside Chinatown, the place looks clean and sanitized, the service is decent and very friendly, we had the sizzling rice soup which is very good , and also steamed chicken, they sell alcohol and also wine so you can enjoy either one if you feel like it.. overall it was a nice and pleasant dining experience ... enj6
