Best cold noodle (naengmyung) restaurant in OC- It's better than K-Town's naengmyung. The only issue is that lines are long so long- uber long. My friends usually wait for an hour. Parking is not easy either. You have to go around to find parking. But it has the best naemyung so it is worth it. Just come prepared to look for parking and wait a bit- and you will be rewarded with delicious naengmyung.

I'm writing this after I just came back from a meal with my family at Mo Ran Gak in Garden Grove. It's an unpleasant experience, but I think I should let you know. The attached photo contains foreign objects (plastic shards) and a bowl similar to the one from which the foreign objects came from. You may not be able to see it clearly, but you should see about two spots in the bottom of the bowl that look like dents. This is probably where the shards came from. I ate the food (and the shards) from the bowl the shards came from. The subsequent complaint process with the restaurant overshadowed the intention to handle it as smoothly as possible. Note that the bowl in the photo is not a bowl from which these foreign objects have come off. This bowl is another similar bowl, and the restaurant server checked its bottom to show that the other bowls were okay. But, this bowl is no different. Perhaps the bowl has been dented to the bottom due to excessive use of the bowl for a long time. This is enough to be observed with the naked eye, shouldn't it be discarded immediately? I don't know how many of these expired bowls are used, but if all 2 of the 2 bowls I checked are like this, it's too much to say that it's a mistake. I haven't met the owner, but he may choose to use these outdated bowls for cost savings, but would it be okay if the customer had to ingest foreign substances without their knowledge due to that choice? I hope the owner, assuming he is a conscientious owner, would not try to destroy evidence immediately after reading this article. Or maybe it's already in progress. I plan to file a complaint with the sanitation authorities, but I am posting because I do not want any more victims.

Omg. This has got to be the best Korean food on the west coast. And probably even the east coast. The seafood soondooboo and bibim naengmyun were off the charts. Felt like I was eating in Korea! My family enjoyed the beef bbq immensely as well. Mo Ran Gak is unique in the sense that it has the quality of a top restaurant while making it feel like you’re eating from the comfort of your own home. Can’t wait to eat here again the next time we’re in LA.

My 100% go place for Authentic Korean food. Foods taste consistently great, servers are always good. The ingredients they use are very fresh. Always a long line but worth the trouble. *Lately, I enjoy the outdoor seatings so much because there’s hardly any wait time.

Great place! But if you're trying to eat on the patio, you cannot bring your dog and you cannot have combinations. Just a heads up. Make sure you ask for the broth because sometimes they don't bring it on the patio. Just little tips:-) this is a great place.

Mo Ran Gak is definitely the most popular Korean BBQ restaurant in Garden Grove. They're so popular that they have no need to set up a reservation system. First come, first serve, and you'd better be willing to wait an hour or more, so if you're in a rush, this is not the place for you.My family and I ordered the Combination C (serves 4) and we were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the meat. While we weren't completely stuffed like we had just eaten at an AYCE KBBQ place, the quality of the meat was definitely worth the price. All of the meat was marbled very well and our waiter cooked all of our meat for us.The mool naengmyun is a bit pricey but each regular bowl comes with an additional small serving so it's definitely worth the price if you're eating with a group. The flavor and style of the naengmyun is also pretty close to Pyongyang naengmyun (North Korean naengmyun). For those who've never tried Pyongyang naengmyun, the flavor and seasoning is much more subtle and underwhelming but very delicious.Waiting for over an hour to be seated definitely sucks but once you're in, the service is very good. Like I mentioned above, the waiter cooks the meat for you and will do their best to bring you whatever you might need.

Great food and service at Mo Ran Gak. Our server was quick to refill drinks and the side dishes. We were not rushed at all..really enjoyed our time at the restaurant.Parking was bad before but it was much more ridiculous with the expanded outdoor dining area.

I’ve been coming here for years and the Pyongyang mool nang myun is consistent and good. Things have changed a bit since COVID including the omission of the hot beef consumé they served, for free, at the beginning of the meal. It used to be so fun sipping on this beautiful broth while waiting for our food to arrive. I wouldn’t mind paying for it but they just don’t make it anymore. My bibim nang myun experience will never be the same without it. Also, the prices have skyrocketed to almost 50%. $10 dishes are now $14.70. Still a good place for a meal but not the same experience as before.

The wait was long. Very popular place. The food and price was not commensurate. A little too expensive for good quality food. Not exceptional though.
