Old Chili. Not the most welcoming service. Not the freshest food but edible. Perhaps we came on a bad day when mercury’s in retrograde? ? — we came for a breakfast brunch as our first time at Monkey cafe. The woman taking my order made it unpleasant to ask questions. Like as if she just wanted me to know and hurry up shut up. Service was slow so I wanted to connect with our neighborhood cafe, get a feel for what’s popular. Instead was the opposite. In that, the food arrived in 6mins!! All of it! Record fast. I smelled this sour spoiled milk like order. I naturally assumed it was the sour cream. So I eat, and eat! Just to realize my beans underneath might be the odor. (By now I’m packing to go) I asked when the chili was made, I’m told about two days now. Must’ve been left out. If I get sick or projectile vomit ?. I will reach out. Food could be better. The older lady curly hair was very sweet.

The workers are extremely caring, this restaurant has deep community roots, serving many aspects beyond food. Sure the chandeliers don’t match, tables don’t match, and chairs don’t match, making one wonder if they thrifted the whole restaurant…The FOOD however, does not fall short of what you’d expect to be there for you on a perfect mellow Sunday morning. The food taste clean, their ingredients, as I found out reading about their story on their brochure as I ate, is grown by local farmers who partner with the workers. The chicken doesn’t use hormones or antibiotics, they have fresh fruit, overall food I didn’t feel bad about eating, it felt clean.Great location, great ambiance, great service, great food. Thanks :)

Met a friend here for brunch. I got the SoCal burrito. My friend got some egg sandwich with sausage and home potatoes. The food was served very quickly and was hot and yummy. The place was clean. And the seating area is very open. As we left, it got crowded and there was a line. Staff was very nice. Parking is limited but there is parking available on the streets and around the neighborhood.

I have eaten breakfast at literally thousands of places across the nation and I am always on the look out for a new hidden gem. This was not it. Don't even think about pulling into the parking lot with an SUV, you will block the whole thing, as some one did. Although the food was decent, service was almost nonexistent. I guess there is a certain crowd they cater to based on the limited menu. The restaurant seemed to be set up for indoor fast food at above average prices. My wife got a coffee drink and it may as well came from McDonalds, again nothing special. We tried sitting outside but the trees seemed to be raining bugs. So we moved inside. Cute decor. Overall not a good experience, not a bad one. I just don't see any reason to go back.

Came here on a whim. Absolutely was not disappointed. This big open room is not fancy, the chairs don’t match. All the chandeliers are different and it looks like it was thrown together at the last minute. Then you get your food. I don’t know what magic they use to pack so much flavor in these tasty dishes. The food, the decor, or even the building is not what makes this place special. It’s the staff, they hire at risk youth to give them life skills and prepare them for life.

Enjoyed the layout of the restaurant, get a table first then order at the front and get a number to being back, and the local business displays in the restaurant. But the food quality was not very good for me or my girlfriend. We were going to go to broken yolk but went here instead. My girlfriends order came out very late, after the other 5 in our group had finished, it came out wrong, and gave her an upset stomach for the afternoon. My order came out cold, which was pff because it had tater tots in it. These are generally not made fresh and held at temp, but they didn't even do that.A server also was not wearing a mask, was chewing gum, and challenged me when I said the order he was delivering was not ours.If you have afternoon plans, it's a roll of the dice with monkey business. Will not be returning, wouldn't recommend.Worth mentioning the chicken tortilla soup was good, and the rest of our group said the food was fair.

This place is awesome great. Price is good and for a great cause, staff is awesome and friendly. You walk in find your Table and go to the front counter to order. Food comes out rich eye Catching and of course delicious. Food is fresh. Funds are used to help CSUF

Food was ok, the vibe is very bohemian old messed up furniture. My chair wobbled. Not sure if my chair was supposed to wobble but it sat heavy on my mind all day.

Really enjoyed the fruit salad, service was excellent. And this place is always fresh and clean.

Great food, great service, great ambiance.
