Today is my daughters 14th birthday and she loves coming here for the fried rice and to watch the chef entertain. Today our chef got to our table and immediately started cooking no fire, no guest interaction, just kept his head down and cooked our food, our chef was at our table no longer than 15 minutes. He served our plates, cleaned his grill and left without a word. We all ordered extra rice and i asked the waitress if we could get some more spicy sauce cause our chef didn’t offer any extra as they normally do. The waitress said we have to charge you an extra fee per sauce, at this point i’m extremely frustrated and upset i ask our waitress to speak to a manager. A hispanic female spoke with me about my above concerns, she stated their chefs have the discretion to not perform to the guests with the fire and utensils performances and they could not accommodate my request for the hot spicy sauce even though i explained to her that i wasn’t offered any extra sauce before the chef left. I explained to her the table next to us had an awesome chef he was performing tricks, interacting with his guests, laughing and having a good time. I explained to this manager that i just wanted to make my kids day special because it was her birthday and she had been waiting all week to eat here. I told the manager i usually bring extra cash to tip the chef in cash cause they’re usually really good but i was not going to leave a tip because of the horrible service we received. She explained that she was talk to the head chef and the chef not interacting with guests but her attitude and body language suggested that she really didn’t take my concerns seriously and i saw her laughing with the girls at the register as i walked to pay. Very unprofessional My bill was $170 and to make matters worse i left my food behind after i paid. Take note that if you’re planning on visiting this restaurant for the lunch specials the chefs are but required and may not do the fire show and performance. just wish i would’ve known this before wasting money here. sorry for the rant just very disappointed and upset we visited the sierra vista location on 07-29 at 2pm family of 5 by the room where they take the dishes. Our waitress was amazing, she received a tip

Better options in Fresno for Japanese cuisine. Sakura Chaya has been a staple in the area for a long time and when it opened it was one of the top two Japanese restaurants around. Now it's a top ten restaurant still, but with the prices of the top tier restaurant. They have not kept up with the evolving industry and there are quite a few better alternatives out there now. The ingredients are not as fresh and do not have the quality to justify the prices, when the competition produces a better experience, for less. If you are looking for casual dining then this is will be an okay choice, but please know there other options to consider.

I have been to this lovely establishment twice now and I have enjoyed myself both times. I even got the same pixie like waitress who was very amiable. The food was delicious and I didn't have to wait for a very long time. I have yet to go in for a teppanyaki seat but from what I have seen from a distance it's pretty good. There are booths to sit at and a sushi bar as well. When you first make it through the door there's a bar immediately to the left. The bathrooms are clean and so is the rest of the restaurant. The servers all seem to be quite friendly and accommodating. It's somewhat child friendly but I wouldn't recommend bringing anyone younger than 9 years of age here. There's also a room for larger parties available, I know this because I heard the servers singing happy birthday to someone. Unless you're uber picky this is a great place to eat.

Wonderful place to eat but not enough space. We honestly felt like we were sitting on top of one another. Our party had 5 another party had 5 we all sat in area where there should have only been 8 and that was pushing it. Nonetheless, the food is always great. I ordered the lunch special and the Yo mama roll!

Great waitress and food was very tasty!!

Really good my favorite restaurant. Only one problem we have to make reservations but they usually never answer the phone.

Here's my picture of my place look at the lobster and you tell me. And I've been to places where the lobster is cut and I pull it out of the shell. It honestly looks like someone already tasted it for me.the food imust be ok to who ever ate my food before I received it.

We went here on April 1st,right when they opened and I got the lunch special,a drink and 2 sushi rolls. The guy who was cooking was super rude to me when I asked for an extra bowl of fried rice, because I had already paid for 1 extra, but I wanted to pay for another one as well,But he was like "ask your server" and rolled his eyes, even tho he could've made an extra one and just told the server to charge me...plus my server was no where to be found the whole meal after our cook started cooking...so I couldn't even order extra if I wanted to! And then, when the steak came around, he gave me the tiniest amount of steak bits and gave the white guy next to us a bunch of bigger pieces...and the sushi rolls I ordered at the beginning of my meal didn't get to me until everyone was done eating and we were about to pay. Food was outstanding, but Very mediocre service. Won't be going back there again.

First time trying out Sakura Chaya. Got the steak tapenyaki with fried rice. Gotta tell you, it was great. Chef was friendly and entertaining. Waiters are fast to get your orders and refills. I asked for medium well and the chef cooked it to perfection. Sakura Chaya can be pricey but we’ll worth it. If you’re wondering if you’d be sat with strangers this is the case but you can call and make reservations for large groups.

Our favorite place?❤️ came all the way from Paso for an early Valentine’s Dinner. Plenty of yummy leftovers for tomorrow ??
