First time at this restaurant. Great location, wonderfully friendly staff, excellent food. Can't wait to come back again!
T- Bone n eggs Pura lumbre but the star of the show was the biscuits n gravy ??
Al's cafe is located on a rough part of town but hey that's how you know the food is good lol. Im not from Fresno I just moved here and you can tell this building use to be a Wendy's which gives this place some charm and character. The building is dated and I loved it I felt like I was dining in during the 70s or something. It felt like a time capsule or something. I got the chilaquiles. I feel like you can only get some real authentic chilaquiles when you cook them at home but that doesnt mean their chilaquiles weren't good. They were delicious. They exceeded my expectations. I'm Latina and I love my salsa to be spicy or at least make my taste buds tingle and their sauce was delicious and it had a hint of spice. I was impressed. I work at a restaurant in clovis and I keep hearing about Al's potatoes. I had the beans but I have to come back and try these Al's potatoes I been hearing our customers rave about. I also like that the portions are huge. You definitely get what you pay for. My waitress was also very nice. She was the one with the blonde hair I didnt get her name but the service was excellent. They were busy when I dined in but the food came out fast and it was served hot as well as the coffee. Will definitely keep coming back.
Best breakfast on Highway 99!A Fresno local took me there today and although the neighborhood was a little rough, once inside, I found the staff super friendly and attentive, food beyond tasty, and portions substantial. It's now in my short list for fantastic food!
Wow! A friend had said this place had really good food, so today (3/20/22) we decided to give it a try. I checked the reviews and seen a lot of good ones so I figured with a shot. WRONG! I would love to comment about the food but when the wait staff is rude before you even get in the door..... not worth my time or money! We had not been here so apparently I open the wrong door, and when I asked if we could go in said door, the short mexican guy says "how many of you?" I said 6 he looks at the kids and says "your gonna have to wait a while, we're busy". Ok maybe I went to the wrong door, but at least you could say give us a min. I love to give great reviews especially for new places but when I'm mistreated before even getting in the door, not worth it! Maybe you will get better service but I'm not going to waste my money on a place that has rude staff.
I had the Mexican omelette with Al's special potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Also had a bottomless cup of some of the best coffee in town. I didn't pay too much attention to what my friends were eating. I was too busy enjoying my meal. It was rather filling so I took the biscuits and gravy home with me for a late night snack.
You mess with the best...well you get the best. Al's is the best local spot. Every experience has been an exemplary. The portions are huge and hearty and the taste is amazing. Staff is always friendly. What's cool is that it was built inside an old Wendy's.
Lunch was perfect, the waiter was very friendly and served us all with a big smile ?..We will be back
I have made this place a must visit. If you have not been here and you like breakfast style plates it's a must.
I was told that this place had good food so I tried it for lunch and the place was packed with people however my club sandwich was just ok. Not a whole lot of taste to it. The staff were very nice but one thing I wasn't liking was the location. It's pretty ghetto out there...just sayin
