Best Thali I've had (although I'm a white dude, so my sample size is small). Service was friendly but forgot out drinks - did rush them out when we flagged them down to ask.The dosas are HUGE and delicious. The Thali had a good variety and fresh fluffy bread. Left happy for a very good price.

Besides hanging ball decor and Tamil songs playing the background, I don’t think this particular restaurant has a lot to offer. Although the South Indian Tiffins/Breakfast menu looks authentic, items don’t taste as good. The flavors are bland. Try flipping a coin to check your luck if food being served is hot, with exception of coffee of course which was hot every time. Have tried Mysore masala dosa, podi dosa, masala dosa, idli and vada. Was not fortunate enough in finding an item for my tasting.Service is another issue here. You need to order your food before you are seated at a table. And then you are suddenly under an invisibility cloak. Surprisingly, most waiters didn’t understand English so had to play dumb charades to request hot sambar/chutneys which was fun but wouldn’t pick restaurant for such activities. Now, If you’re craving vegetarian South Indian breakfast food and you do not find any other restaurant open for some reason, you could try your luck with this one.

I have been a customer of Saravana Bhavan for long years and I have eaten in many town and Cities. This Saravana Bhavan is definitely let us down. We went there as a group of 9 and we tried many items on the menu. I would say none of the items lives up to Saravan Bhavan standard. Coffee was the only item that was good. What is really surprising is that they had so many customers both for dine-in and to-go, but they were clearly understaffed. Some of the items took a long time to come. Once they serve, none of them will look at you. Very bad customer service!

The renovated Saravana Bhavan is a 5 star experience on all fronts. The food is absolutely delicious, the modern well lit interiors are a wonderful change and the service is great. Coming out of the pandemic, this is a go to for Indian food

This is not just a restaurant but a destination for GREAT South Indian food and beverages. The mini Ghee Idly with sambar and coconut chutney is amazing, the wide choice of AMAZING dosas are the hardest to choose from, you can come everyday and not exhaust their menu of flavorful dishes. You have to try the Madras coffee. Really great people. They need one of these culinary masterpieces in San Francisco.

Hands down the place to go for authentic South Indian food. We had a Mysore Masala Dosa, Butter Masala Dosa and an Executive South Indian Thali for the three of us. And lo and the dosas were so big, we ended up leaving some of it. Get a Mysore Masala Dosa instead of others since that’s the only one that gets the red chutney applied to the dosa. The Thali was one of the finest, just go for it.Definitely recommended ✅

No longer the same Sarvana Bhavan!!So many options in menu but they only give you what is available in THEIR kitchen. For them Paper dosa, ghee dosa, butter dosa ,plain dosa all same.. Could not find Rava dosa ever although they have so many rava dosa options in the menu! Finally asked for onion dosa and was hoping to find something less spicy. What they did, just put raw onion inside the plain dosa (refer picture ). Did not put the effort to fry the onion.

Absolutely delish! The wait upon entry is well worth it. You place your name on the list, when your name is called, you are handed a menu to select your food then you pay and are seated. Your food will be brought to you and you enjoy your time savoring the many options on the menu. Highly recommend.

Chana bhatura was excellent and the food was piping hot. the onion rava masala Dosa was ok and left much to be desired.their filter coffee was decent. they have done a complete redo on their ambience and space, new booths and lighting and the place looks much better.
