Checked this place out because of the great reviews. Got a bento for takeout - grilled pork belly, sashimi, and veggie tempura. Everything was tasty and well cooked. The gyoza was also surprisingly delicious. The sashimi was fresh and melt-in-your mouth good. The tempura retained its light crispiness even after a 15 minute wait in its sealed plastic container (boooooooo on the plastic!). The staff were super polite and friendly. Only complaint is they forgot to put the tempura sauce in my bag, and I bet that would have put the tempura over the top. Kinda bummed about that, but I'm still giving them 5 stars because everything else was on point.

outstanding sushi, meat was amazingly fresh and squishy. 10/10, would recommend to all. easily better than madfish

It’s an amazing place for sushi at a reasonable price. The ramen was good too.

excellent food, very tasty?

I am impressed with the quality of the ? and it's very fresh. Portions are decent. Price is reasonable as well. I have ordered kakuna ?. Next time I would try sashimi.

Just moved in Fremont with my husband and we were craving sushi. I randomly found the restaurant Kakuna while looking for a good restaurant in the area, so I decided to give it a try and ordered directly on their website.Easy to order online, there is a lot of choices, we did not wait too long either. It is affordable and really good, we were absolutely happy and will definitely come back (not mentioning that we live next door so it is super convenient hahaha).I recommend a 100% !

Great sushi, one little wish - include more soy sauce in the order, better a small cup instead of those small packs, so that people could dip their rolls into the sauce.

Excellent spot for sushi at an affordable price. Many of the specialty rolls are about 12$ which is cheaper compared to many other sushi spots I have visited before. The taste also either is similar or beats the other sushi spots I have been to. I have tried several different rolls (Sumo, Dragon, Kakuna, to name a few) and honestly they are all on par with each other. Pick any specialty roll and you can't go wrong.I'd definitely come back!

The rolls and teriyaki plate tastes good but average, portion is on the smaller side and price is alright. Only order takeout cos I'm close, the inside is small with only four tables. A very average Japanese Sushi restaurant.

The yellowtail was fresh and yummy! Besides that, the rolls were soupy and had far too large a diameter. If you are looking for saucy rolls, this might be the place for you! For more traditional sushi, try elsewhere.
