Pretty average to almost bad. The Wafu Bento is truly the worst Bento I have ever had. Tempura was below average and the fish was mediocre. Maybe the sushi bowls are better? But at the price points I doubt anything here is worth it. Only positive was the friendly service.
We ate "Oya-don" and "Sanriku-don". They were delicious!
Preface this review with the fact that I have never eaten at Sushi Koto. I use to eat here when it was called something else like Funashiem? I read a review on how awesome Sushi Koto Sunday Brunch Buffet is so, I called to make a Reservation and to my disappointment it has been discontinued. Ok Everyone Chant.....BRING BACK THE SUNDAY BUFFET, BRING BACK THE SUNDAY BUFFET, BRING BACK THE SUNDAY BUFFET!!! Please.
I loved the lunch chirashi! there is a white fish they used that just melted in my mouth. However, we also ordered the koto bento box but I honestly didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. If you're not used to or into japanese side dishes, you won't like the koto bento box. But the bowl of rice with eel, and the portion of sashimi in the bento box was really good. I also loved their rice! It was the best tasting japanese rice I've ever had. :)
One of their biggest problem is their service. One waitress seems to be in another orbit (lackadaisical). Food is not an issue but I refuse to pay top dollar and a generous 20% tip when the service is horrendous.
Really disappointed with the quality of food & cleanliness considering all of the amazing reviews online. The good:- Service was prompt and courteous.- Not incredibly busy on a Friday nightThe not so good:- We we're given 2 out of 3 menus. The entree and drink menus. Found out on our way out there was a 3rd menu with all of the sushi options.- The table was incredibly sticky (wiped but not cleaned). I ended up having to use hand sanitizer to clean it myself. Not to mention there was two whole pieces of sashimi under my seat so of course I ended up stepping on them and my shoes became slimy (almost slipped trying to exit the restaurant)- Ordered green tea to start. The tea was fine but was surprised there was an extra charge for hot water. I've never seen that before-Lastly, as first timers we asked the waitress for her recommendation and we were directed to the keto bento box as it had a little bit of everything. So we ordered the keto bento box and the sweet potato appetizer. The presentation was nice enough but the flavor was lacking and didn't taste fresh as you'd expect from other sushi restaurants. Ultimately, we were dissatisfied especially with the bento box since it was nothing different from what you'd get from big chains.I would not recommend nor come back to this restaurant.
By all means, one of the best Japanese Restaurants I have been in Socal. The flavors are amazing, top notch ingredients, incredible seevice and the place is couzy.. I will come back..
You can't lose with Sushi Koto. Good service and wonderful food. Go for the crunch rolls or the special bowls.
One of the best Japanese sushi restaurant in Orange County. Most everyone comes here for affordable and always great tasting chirashi bowls, but their regular sashimi and sushi are great also.
I walked up on a Saturday afternoon at 3:30. Tables outside had dirty dishes on them. Tables inside had dirty dishes on them and there was food on the floor. The place was filthy. They were going to sit me at a table covered in dirty dishes and food. I walked out.
