Decent brunch date spot if you're tired of dim sum and American food! Otherwise, a one and done is more than enough for me.Nep Cafe has been making its rounds on TikTok and IG, with people hitting it up on my feed just about every other week. I finally had the chance to try it and it was just okay. We ordered the Banh Mi Chao, Bone Marrow Cavatelli, and the mocktail Saigon Cooler. The Banh Mi Chao seems like the common favourite but it was rather underwhelming. It was an (IMO) overpriced dish that really relies on the pate. Most importantly, in my case, the beef was overcooked. I see that others have had it medium rare though so it's likely a combination of an off day and the sizzling skillet taking it too far. I liked it but far from loved it and wouldn't go to Nep just for this. The bone marrow cavatelli was incredibly fatty and soupy. It didn't bind together and was not the typical pasta sauce one would expect, almost like eating pasta with just butter. The Saigon Cooler was unremarkable as well, tasting just like a regular lemonade.Overall, I'm rather disappointed with my trip to Nep Cafe but wish them the best of luck. I much prefer their afternoon function as Gem Dining.
Stopped by here when I was in Anaheim in last November. Vietnamese food is the best kind of breakfast in my opinion. I may be a tad bias but honestly Nep cafe has done a great job with their menu and food quality. Nep cafe can get very crowded in the morning. I waited 45 minutes to sit by the bar and it was definitely worth it. Will be back when I’m in the area again. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, excellent drinks. Came here for a birthday lunch for a coworker and all our dishes were very tasty (we shared). My entree was the spicy chicken noodles. Yum! I'll be coming back when I get back into this part of LA, but make sure you make a reservation; lines are long even with a reservation. I never order these types of drinks, but I got talked into it today; no regrets. It was perfect for a warm Southern California afternoon.
Price aside, this place has GREAT drinks and is a bougie brunch place you want to go with a few people so you can try everything. We got the crab toast, popcorn chicken, and the steak and eggs with bone marrow.Crab toast - scrambled eggs were surprisingly delicious and creamy. The buttered toast was the perfect vehicle for this.Popcorn chicken - nothing crazy special other than solid Asian style salt and pepper chicken with some sort of chipotle aioli. But good price at $6 or $7 ?Steak and eggs with bone marrow - a hearty meal for sure! Bone marrow is definitely a treat yet worth the extra $6 just to make it a bit different. All in all - some “simple” dishes with extra flavor. All of them came out super fast and were very hot too!Coffee - let’s just say 2 people ordered a total of 5 coffees… three of these were to go. Why spend $6 for an average Starbucks latte when you can get a salted egg coffee?! I would come back just for the drinks. ?
My family enjoyed the eclectic flavors of brunch. We had to try all the recommended dishes. They did not disappoint. They don’t skimp on spices or seasoning. You will taste the richness of the crab and uni. You will get the tingle of heat from the spicy Szechuan noodles. And you will want to order more of the bone marrow pasta…Did I mention their coffee varieties???
Trendy Vietnamese/French brunch place, wait up to 2 hr and they frequently close Yelp waiting list. We spent $100+ here with The Dao, Filet Mignon Bone Marrow, Crab Toast, Beef Tongue Fried Rice, Coconut Ice Cream, Egg Beer. When we sat down the ordering and service was fast. I recommend everything except the fried rice. It was moist and not good fried rice. They have a whole beverage & drinks menu if you want afternoon cocktails. The desserts were too sweet for me but my family enjoyed it. Overall worth the hype but note the price.
Popular vietnamese brunch spot that serves trendy food with great presentation. Every dish looked great, a large emphasis on making everything a feast for the eyes, including the drinks. The staff is also super friendly and nice. My only complaint is that the portions seem small for the price (I actually like smaller portions but think the price should have been lower). The bone marrow with toast is a good example of this, looks good, but pricey and felt more like an appetizer. The bone marrow was just ok but interesting idea to put it on toast. The steak and eggs I liked the most. The drinks were also delicious, the vietnamese coffee with egg got rave reviews at our table and the iced coffee with ube was also a hit. The pate with toast was very good, with a little bit of mayo on it and it had a rich flavor. The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated and felt upscale. They also serve alcoholic drinks but didn't try any of those. There was a line around the building right before it opened, not sure if this is normal or just because of the upcoming holiday, but talking to staff there is often an hour plus wait times for seating so I would recommend calling ahead or getting there early. Also of note is they didn't have change if paying in cash, maybe this was a one time thing or the norm, but something to be aware of if you prefer paying in cash. Just for the presentation and atmosphere alone I would recommend this as a good brunch spot if the wait is not too long.
If you want to impress a friend visiting out of state with good Vietnamese food, look no further. Don't be afraid hyping this place up because nobody is going to be let down.(Unless they hate waiting)
The drinks here are astounding. I got the taro coffee and it was delicious and creamy with a really good taro flavor. My sister ordered the brown sugar latte and it was sweet but in the best way possible, you honestly can't leave without trying a drink! The crab toast is honestly a must. It's creamy soft and delicious with lots of crab. The popcorn chicken really surprised me - super flavorful and very crunchy for a Vietnamese spot. I got the Bone Marrow Added to Banh Mi Chao (Filet Mignon). The steak was cooked well and served in a super delicious sauce. The bread that comes with it was super soft and the bone marrow made it feel super luxurious - highly recommend!Overall, great food and drinks, great decor, and great service from everyone at NEP Cafe! This restaurant made my trip to California very memorable! I still think about this restaurant, I honestly wish we had something like this is in the NYC area. The service, decor, and most importantly, the food and drinks was amazing. We came on a weekday in the afternoon, but we were glad we came when we did because there was a line for a table after we arrived (talk about popular!)
We had our Christmas day brunch at the cafe. Thank you everyone for working on Christmas! The egg coffee was delicious, we had both iced and hot on our table. The service was excellent and the food was presented so beautifully.
