Yesterday I called ahead to see if outdoor seating was available and was told by the person who answered the phone “no problem come on over, we are slow due to it being between lunch and dinner.” When we arrived the waitress curtly claimed she was the only server on and if we sat outside we would have slow/bad service. She seemed very bothered that she would have to serve us outdoors. When I explained that the person that answered the phone a few minutes earlier was very friendly and had no problem with our party of 5 wanting to be seated outside. So the waitress then grabbed menus and utensils and stomped outside, slammed them down on the table and said “ I don’t even have a 5 top out here” then dragged a 5th chair from the near by table and told one of our party members that they would have to share, laughed and walked back inside the restaurant. We waited a few minutes then decided to leave. I have never dinned at Mimi”a Cafe before, but 3 people in our party frequent a different location and were very excited for us to try it. After the experience we had we will not be returning to try it again. I understand the shortage of help these days, and we were willing to wait patiently for our meals. But the rudeness and aggression we experienced acceptable.
Nice return to the chain since many years ago. Not for lack of liking Mimi’s but life changes that I haven’t been at a Mimi’s in a while. Last we as in Tri-Valley East Bay Area. Met a friend here yesterday and the experience was great. As always, the exterior or the building is immediately identifiable by the cottage look. Adorable! In the nice weather we had, the outside patio was inviting. However, my friend wanted to indoors today. The inside seating is divided into the front area where hostess station is as well as dining rooms to the right and straight ahead. It was nice to see a good selection on the sizable menu but not the 100 page tome some restaurants have to try and do everything. Breakfast is all day, by the way. I chose the Tuscan Chicken. Cut tender chicken meat with a ton of vegetables all cooked perfect (crisp, not soggy), on a bit of mashed potato, and a light sauce. OMG! I was in heaven. And the Triple Berry Iced Tea…well, I had three! So glad we went as I tend to drive by often and forget it is there. That won’t be happening again as I will be back often.
I would give a zero but don't think it's possible. There were literally 3 others tables sat in the whole restaurant when we arrived. It was 545pm on a Monday. Waited 5 minutes to be sat. The host/waitress shared with us how tired she was from working mothers day. I said I'm sure it was financially rewarding but she said nope. Not after I tipped out. I said I was sorry. She sat us at our table. She proceeded to sit with other customers for 10 mins before she came to even ask if we wanted something to drink. We finally gave her our 3 orders including our drink order. Every order was delivered and not one was what we ordered. Meanwhile....all the tables that were sat after us were served. She blamed the cook. Didn't apologize at all. We sat for 20 more minutes without even a visit. We finally had enough and stood up and said we were leaving and didn't even want our food. Which she said was coming. I said WE'RE DONE. Paid for our drinks and left. We went across the street to BJs and we're treated with respect, great food that was immediately given to usAnd made very happy. I use to go to Mimis all the time. NEVER AGAIN. I should have none better with only 3 tabletops in the whole restaurant. It was a horrible experience for a late Mothers Day experience.
We have come here often. Most of the time it was okay. This time it was terrible. I had ham and Swiss crepes. Way too much ham and greasy. Potatoes were worse. Like eating grease balls. Hubby had swirl toast. Like a dessert. Eggs had the texture of powdered eggs. Bacon not cooked. On the positive the mimosas were great. Service was excellent.
Came to have lunch with friends. Service was on point, friendly and attentive. Foods were served hot and fresh. Ribeyes were cooked to desired doneness and the Jambalayas were delicious. A pleasant dining experience... Mimi's is still one of my favorites.
Horrible!!!Wasn't sure to eat dinner here. Not many cars in parking lot so we thought maybe they were just opening up for dinner. We now know why they weren't very busy. The food was horrible.I had asked the waitress if the turkey on the club was 'real' or lunchmeat. She honestly said lunchmeat. (the menu said 'savory, slow roasted') Then I asked about the turkey on the Thanksgiving type dinner. She said it was 'real'. Once again the menu read 'slow-roasted, savory) I ordered that dinner. My husband ordered chicken and linguine. Dinners came and mine was cold and turkey was cold lunchmeat. Husband's was cold, also. They were sent back to "nuke". Husband's chicken was inedible since it turned hard when "nuked". Waitress had to be flagged down to refill our iced tea glasses even though she was standing 8 feet away. Nobody ever came to see how our dinner was or if we needed anything.Won't ever go to a Mimi's again. This review got 1 star because the restaurant and building are very nice and homey feeling. The decor is very warm and inviting. A very false impression.....don't expect a "homey" meal at this Mimi's.
Great service and friendly staff. If folks want huge helpings, got to a truck stop, or all you can eat buffet.
Update: Called the manager and found out this is their standard size as they cut their pies into 20 slices at $9 a slice. They would not give us a refund. They could only give us a $10 gift card. This is all company policy. So, they make around $180 per each pie. They are making an insane profit on their pies. Do not buy a piece of pie to go. We went to get my 90 yo mother a piece of pie and when they came back with it packed in a container, it was the size of 3 bites and they charged us $9.59. I posted the picture of what we received. We were VERY disappointed and won’t be returning.
Wonderful food and service. Never miss out on their allspice muffin! Been going to Mimi's restaurant chain since I was a little girl. It's nice to see the consistency in the experience here in Folsom.
Our waitress is a working machine! Everytime we go, it's the same lady, by herself running around constantly taking good care of everyone. She deserves great tips! She works hard for her money?
