Food quality is pretty consistent with the other Mikuni locations in Sacramento. Every roll we ordered was prepared amazingly!Good location- feels kind of small inside but they do have an outdoor patio area.Staff was friendly. Only thing I wish they changed was the hours of operation on Friday/Saturday. It closes at 10pm.
I would call this the Cheesecake Factory of sushi restaurants. Everyone seems to think it's so good, but there's really nothing unique about it. The wait was 30 minutes, so I thought we were in for a treat. We were seated on a booth strip with a bunch of tables facing the the chefs. Loud groups of people kept coming over to this wheel that you get to spin when it's your birthday. It was cute the first time, but after the third rowdy group it became pretty disruptive and tacky. I was thinking how nice it would be if there were a bar right where the chefs were, so we can see the work they do. I mean there's a perfect stretch of area for a bar, but it's completely underutilized. We had the Puff Daddy appetizer, which was okay. The house sauce it comes with was overly mayonnaise-y and could've used some acidity to go better with the fatty flavor of the stuffed shrimp. Our rolls came on foot long plates and the rolls were lumped into a cube in the center. It was...very weird. You'd think a sushi chef would want to display a roll more spread out, but these were bunched together with nothing going on with the remaining 8 inches of plate. But when we picked up pieces of the rolls, we realized why. There wasn't much going on with the insides. The rolls weren't artfully put together and the amount of fish was sparse. The ingredients were mushed together and rolled up. They tasted good and I don't doubt that the ingredients are probably of higher quality, but the display was very uninspired. One nice thing I can say is that the service was friendly. We spent a pretty large chunk of money here for a rather basic experience.
We’ve been dining at Mikuni for years and I’ve even taken their Sushiology classes several times. Best sushi—always fresh and delicious! I love the atmosphere and it’s our go -to place for birthdays and milestone celebrations. Even my grandchildren under the age of 10, choose Mikuni for their birthday dinners and love to spin the wheel!
The food was very good. The service needs some help. The servers were very attentive and earnest but is clear they had not been trained very well. We had to ask for everything....plates, water, etc.
Great time! delicious meal. Went to the Makuni's in the Folsom area. It was my friends B-Day so she got to spin the birthday wheel in the main dining room. She won a $100 gift certificate to Makuni's! Haha. So needless you say she had a terrific birthday compliments of Makuni's Restaurant.. Thank you!
The food was super good and the service was absolutely outstanding. Happy hour was a great time to come in and grab a ton of food for the family and it didn't break the bank. I will most definitely be coming back here when I'm in California.
I had high expectations but was somewhat disappointed. This place seemed more like a diner than a sushi restaurant. Sushi itself was subpar. Fish was very thinly sliced and seemed to have been defrosted and refrozen multiple times with a strong fishy smell and taste (when there should be little to none). Kitchen items were better but oil appeared to be old. Service was slow and indifferent, bordering on rude. Mediocre overall.
Great sushi place and great drinks. Great attentive staff and definitely recommend the Lychee drink with the Umami/Sechuan Flower to heighten your taste experience with food and drinks!
This restaurant seems to be emphasizing being trendy over great food and service. The food and service were still very good, but there is certainly room for improvement. Even still the outdoor seating is nice. 5 stars when the food quality improves to what it should be.
First time at this location. Food was delicious and service was great. I will be back there again soon.
