Update 6/24/2022: Had the Ribeye Steak and Eggs with a large Diet Coke. The Ribeye didn't taste as good as the New York Steak I had on 5/19/2022. The Ribeye was too salty and didn't have as much flavor as the NY Steak.Update 5/19/2022: Had the Steak & Egg Breakfast Special. The steak was cooked to perfection and the scrambled eggs were very fluffy. ?My friend and I went to Mel's today after trying to go there on Valentine's Day. When we showed up at 8am on Valentine's Day the restaurant was closed and no one was there so we ended up going to Black Bear Diner in Suisun. We came today and found the Food was mediocre to Black Bear Diner. The $ paid was similar but the portion size was smaller at Mel's. Our waitress was new and tried really hard. Someone told her to make (1) of the shakes wrong. This time the food was awful ?. My burger was so dry it was tasteless the other meal was described as tasting how a cigarette smells. Not normal for this place. 3 stars because she really tried!!
Service was okay. Malts still had large chunks of malt that weren't blended up. Shakes had large chunks of whatever flavor that couldn't make it through the straw.
Really cute place with great food. Awesome music and jukebox on every table. Food was cooked wrong but they remade it with no problem. Server was friendly.

The service here was excellent. Clean restaurant and plenty of food for the price you pay. Well worth the visit. My only negative is they need to replace the booth seats.

I paid $4.32 for a side of veggies that was maybe 1 cup of veggies. With no seasoning. I came here because it was the only place that had a mildly healthy alternative. Did not feel like I got four and a third dollars worth of prepared food.
Well worth my time. The steak and eggs are a great value. The food w a s really good The workers did a really great Job of working tables and new arriving customers.
I had a veggie burger which was very tasty - with French fries. As with everything I’ve ever had at Mel’s it was all very good. My friend had fish and chips and she said it was really good too. Love their breakfasts here too!
