We were driving through Fairfield, looking for lunch and came across this wonderful restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. I had the fried chicken and fish combo. They pulled the skin away but connected and fried it. Amazing, the fried catfish was delicious and not greasy at all. I can't even explain how good the red beans and rice were. I can't wait to eat here again.

Ordered takeout. Wife picked up the food so really can't comment on customer service but my wife thought it was great. I had the fish chicken lunch combo with greens. I thought that one piece of catfish was stingy but it was a huge piece. It was the best part of the meal. Lightly spiced but tasty. The greens needed salt. They kinda work with a smokey profile for their greens and chicken which is ok but a little salt would bring out the seasoning a little better. The chicken was cooked well. Overall a nice presentation. They did forget to include my wife's 7-up cake so I dinged them a star.

My friends took me to Chez Soul for my birthday. Of course the food was great as usual. The service was superb. The ladies were very attentive, keep our glasses fill with our beverages and anything else we needed.I ordered the grill catfish, grilled to just right, flaky, the hush puppies, were golden brown, macaroni and cheese, which I thought was a little dry, but otherwise good. My friends ordered two items for their meat, chicken and fish or beef. They did commented that their meats were delicious and great portions. They give you such big portions, that I took some home, but actually I wanted to leave room for dessert.I had my taste buds for bread pudding, but they were out of it. So I had their delicious German chocolate cake, another of my favorite. All in all we had a great meal and fantastic service. I sincerely recommend Chez Soul to take your friends on their birthdays or non-birthdays!

The staff was friendly, and nice. The greens weren't seasoned as well. And the peach cobbler wasn't sweet enough. The yams were tasty, the corn muffin was delicious.I had the lunch menu. I had the barbecue ribs with one side. Only 2 ribs( small) it would be nice with 3-4 ribs for $9.00

On a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was fairly busy but comfortable to dine in, policy is show vaccination card with ID For dine in which honestly made me feel comfortable, I could relax, take my mask off and enjoy my meal which was five star excellent! everything Was cooked to my satisfaction, catfish and chicken meal dinner was very delicious! I will definitely return and recommend, Did I mention the service? All staff were very friendly and attentive

Honestly the food was amazing, took a little long for the food to come out but I did want my chicken extra well... lol! I was surprised they asked for your vaccination card abs Id to dine in but other than that please go and enjoy this great cuisine

The service was excellent. They still don’t let a lot of people in, so they take reservations for inside. They are almost strictly take out these days. But, the rare day was today, and Great did great service

best soul food in the bay...hands down

OMG! Idk where to start. Let’s start with the Customer Service it was AWESOME!The Food was Awesome, I didn’t have to add any flavor to anything! Whomever is in the Kitchen has been BLESSED by GOD!! I’m visiting from the MidWest and this is by far the best food I’ve had in any parts of CALIFORNIA & I’ve been all over!!!

The food (minus the mac and cheese) was pretty great! The basa was great, and the brisket practically melts in your mouth its so tender. The yams were absolutely incredible. But the mac and cheese had a real funny taste to it. Almost like it was old or they use the absolute sharpest cheddar cheese out there.
