Nice indoor and outdoor seating, great food and service, wonderful views of the bay
The service was excellent.! Some of the food did not live up to expectation. They provided a shrimp cocktail for my wife on request, even though it was not on the menu, and charged the same price as for any other appetizer. It made for an interesting appetizer because our waiter had warned us that the shrimp would be grilled. The escargot were disappointing. They were very tender but more flavorless than others I have had, and the snail butter lacked sufficient seasoning. The French onion soup wonderful but the split pea soup was just split pea soup. It would be safe to order the rack of lamb rare; I ordered it medium rare to be safe (first time at this restaurant) and it was closer to medium well. The seasonal vegetables were wonderful, although I was completely unimpressed with the smashed (and charred) fingerling potatoes. The “Fresh Catch” was halibut fillet over risotto. The halibut was heavily salted on one end and none on the other (the chef missed his aim?) and the risoto had lumps and provided a soggy base for the fish. I don’t now what is it but as a rule, restaurants on the Pacific Coast with its wonderful variety of fresh seafood, rarely do a good job with fish, other than fish & chips. My New York cheesecake was just OK, being far too heavy, and the strawberries were not ripe (my pet peeve is finding white-centered strawberries in restaurants. Serve them ripe or not at all). My wife’s flourless chocolate cake was wonderful. Since we usually share our meals, I was disappointed to discover that the only rosé wine was the champagne.
One of if not the best fine dining restaurant in Eureka. Great bay views. Great wine selection. Expect fresh ingredients and local seafood. I could really go on and on about this place. The appetizers are amazing including fresh crab cakes and top tier calamari. The table served Ceaser salad and the French onion soup are top notch too. Steaks served to perfection. The lobster is imported from Maine but local oysters are super local from the prosperous waters visible while you dine.
Good food and drinks but the crab cakes stole the show. Their crab cakes May be my all time favorite. The dining room also has a really nice sunset view :).Great nice oysters and the broiled oysters weren’t over cooked. Great service - they got something wrong in my order and fixed it with zero hesitation before I even noticed. Friendly staff.
We had the best dinner of our whole vacation here! Our food and drinks were fantastic; the atmosphere was charming. We loved our server, Mikey. If we’re ever in Eureka again, we’ll definitely eat here.
It was my husbands birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere nice since we were on vacation. However in the end we were sadly disappointed with this restaurant I was expecting more from this place with all the rave reviews I read. I ordered the Rib Eye which was excellent but the fingerling potatoes were absolutely so overly over fried and so greasy I couldn't even eat them. My husband had the fish and chips, his fish was good but his fries were also overcooked. To top it off our waiter never came to check on us to see if our food was good my husband had to ask the hostess where he went because he wanted another Arnold Palmer which she had to bring. We didn't see him until we were ready for our check then he asks if everything was ok.The sitting is also a little disappointing as the tables are so close together, you are sitting right next to another party you can hear each other's conversations. If you are looking for romantic don't go there. The other table appeared to have a great waitress who was attentive.
Amazing experience. Loved everything on the menu! Definitely a hidden jem.
I had rack of lamb and it was solid, very good...and likely not ordered that often there in early spring...wasn't busy. The house is unique and we came across it by accident because there there is literally no other decent, civilized choice in Eureka. Not being mean spirited, but we walked into a couple of places and it was WHOA, not welcome. Our server, Emily, was delightful and knew the menu throughout...which I always find impressive. I would go back for sure. There is a bar there that looks like fun and a young staff with energy which is great.
Delicious and friendly place. I would definitely go back. I lived in Humboldt county for 25 years and never heard of this restaurant ?
This establishment has the best food I’ve ever had. My husband and I went there for our 17 year anniversary and we were behind impressed. Between the ambiance and the quality of the food we will never forget this special day! Not to mention the waitress was absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely be back.
