This food is outrageously good.. I don't usually talk about how good it is as I am eating, and there are only a handful of restaurants which are worth patronizing multiple times a week. Can't get much more authentic and the love definitely shines through the food. The Baja fish tacos and breakfast burritos are next level.
Great flavor! I had the suf n turf fries and my sis had the quesabirria tacos. The seasoning they put on the food is so flavorful!. Great service. Dining is outside or to go. Covered patio. Will definitely try this place again.

Abosolutely the best Mexican restaurant in Humboldt that i have tried! Everything is so fresh and made with quality ingredients. You can actually get spicy hot sauce that's flavorful not too oily and has a serious bite. So many options to accommodate any diet preference. Always friendly service and dogs are allowed to kick it on the patio which was a pleasant surprise. And the churro donuts...not sure if they're always available but definitely a must (thank you Lori!!)

Bottom line the BEST Mexican food around. They’re a small restaurant and therefore not a lot of staff, so it can be a little bit of a wait during peak hours, but my god they are SO worth it. I’m a vegetarian and have gotten used to not having many options (not to meting GOOD options) but I have a hard time deciding what I want when I come here because I have so many choices. I don’t like Chile Relleno anywhere else but I could eat them every day from Cocina Mariposa. The vegetables in the fiesta veggie burrito are always perfectly cooked and seasoned and a way better veggie combo than most restaurants offer (cauliflower!!). And they have JACKFRUIT! I usually don’t get tacos anywhere else because they’re either subpar vegetable tacos or beans and rice, but these jackfruit tacos are top notch. Our orders are always right even though my husband complicates his (he wants this but without this or that and add this this this and this). The owner/Chef is fantastic and always posts on Instagram if there are any changes to hours due to staffing/life things so it’s always good to check before starting the drive-not much is sadder than having your heart set on getting Cocina when they’re not actually open. I literally could go on forever about how much I love this restaurant. A+++++++
We are so glad we found this hidden gem! The food is authentic and so tasty! It is our go to when we want to go out, the menu has such a variety that there is something for everyone! The staff is so sweet ♥️ If you want the best authentic Mexican food, GO TO COCINA MARIPOSA! ♥️♥️♥️
The food was super good but wait time was not so great. We were the only ones waiting for our food and we waited at least 45 minutes which was after we waited 10 minutes to even order our food (only me and my son). Definitely felt like they were prioritizing call ins over people actually at the restaurant. Then when we asked for lime they never brought it out so we went inside to get it and they charged us $1 for it. Also since we were waiting so long my son had finished his drink and wanted more and I was charged another $5 for it. They were friendly but the wait and up charging was a little much, probably won't be going back.

Excellent in almost every way. This is the only “good” Hispanic food in the area other than Taco el Gallo food truck. The dragon fruit tacos, surf and turf burrito, aaaaamazing bean dip with fresh cotija and garlic, and soooo much more. This place is a gem and worth every penny. The people who work their are also very cool. They have a small staff so the food takes time, but it is made with care and love. Great place to eat! I suggest parking in the top parking lot and walking down to the restaurant because it is at the golf course.
