There were 4 servers standing around and me and my partner waited for 20 min or more. 3 other parties who got there 10 min after us got served first. I also saw another party who got there around the same time leave. It was not busy at all. I am not one to write reviews and I am very patient but this was just ridiculous. I recommend they work on paying attention to their customers. I am surprised there isn’t more reviews on this. This happened last time I came.

The first time that I came here I didn’t have a great experience, but I decided to give this place another try and I’m really glad I did. The sushi was absolutely delicious, the portions were big, the prices were low, and the service was really good. Happy customer, will be returning again. ?

Sushi Yama has been my favorite sushi restaurant for years. I was in shock last night when I went there last night and was ignored by every server for 20 minutes. I left and went to Mikko Sushi on Grand Avenue in Escondido where I was treated with immediate, friendly service and excellent sushi. Good bye Sushi Yama where they don’t care about their customers. Hello Mikko Sushi where I felt like a honored guest.

We love this great local place! The sushi is always fresh and delicious. Their other food is great too. Really nice servers. They never disappoint!!!

I love the daily specials here. You can really get some good sushi for a great deal. The staff is always great, and friendly. I put 4 stars due to frequent mistakes on my orders. I always order with no avocado because of a severe allergy and about 50% of the time there is still avocado on the rolls. The staff is always willing to fix any mistakes, but it would be nice if the chef's would pay a bit more attention, and I always feel guilty pointing out mistakes and having to waste food and make extra work for the chefs.

The sushi here is decent, the variety is good too. Prices are best if you dine in, but they’re really fast. A bonus— they’re usually pretty quick with to-go orders!

Lots of the flavors were a bit too sweet for me, such as the eel sauce and teriyaki sauce. The halibut was not fresh. The fresh wasabi and sweet shrimp were good but there was too much rice compared to shrimp. The rolls were good but nothing to write home about. The fish behind the bar were stacked on top of each other and not neatly placed on ice.Restaurant temperature was a bit warm. The service was decent. Seemed clean. I would probably eat somewhere else.

Sashimi is amazing!!! Luv the Hanna Awake! Cheers ?

Someone suggested this place to go for my friend's birthday. We decided to try it out and we were not disappointed! We got one of their specials, I don't really remember what it was because it was a while ago. I do remember enjoying it though! It was delicious! I got a lot of sushi for the price. The sauce was phenomenal. And the Wasabi was some of the best I've ever had! It gave me good practice with my chopstick skills. If I'm ever back in Escondido, I will definitely go back. When we went, it was very busy. The place was super packed. We decided to get takeout because of that, but they were still very quick with preparing our food. If you're ever hungry for some sushi, ROLL on down to Sushi Yama!

Most of the time I love this place. The food is great. However, they are not serving on the patio and right now with concerns about this new covid variant, that's a bit concerning. They didn't even have the doors open and when I asked about it, the waitress was very very rude. Not their usual style! Perhaps she was overworked and underpaid who knows? She did not have to be so rude. We left and now we're going over to the Thai Kitchen!
