Honestly $71 for what we ordered and received is almost laughable. 3 of us ate and I ordered a mixed drink and queso. My chicken was likely butterflied and cut in half . The portions are sad. For $19...give me the breast not half the breast.Just now noticing a "surcharge" of 3.5%. What's that for? Covid relief? Inflation relief? Please!! You'll price yourself out of patrons.Friendly staff and food tasted decent but not sure I'll come back. There is no value and the surcharge is a slap in the face.
Came to here with a group of 10 and was able to get a reservation earlier in the day for 6pm on the patio. We had attentive service and great customer service too. It was happy hour was I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was phenomenal. Definitely will order this again!
San Diego has so many excellent Mexican restaurants that a chain like on the border is not really necessary. A visitor from Boston would probably rave over the food, but locals know there are better options for tasty Mexican fare. The staff was great on the day I ate lunch there. My taco salad came out of the kitchen within minutes, and had lots of fresh ingredients, and the beef was well prepared. The shell was bland, the salsa was pasty. The bar area looked like a great spot for a beer or Margarita with friends.Plenty of free parking.
Food was decent. Price was good. Unfortunately we had quite a few issues, like no silverware for ten minutes after food arrived. But would definitely try it again because the issues were due to staffing. But for the price and quality of the food, we'd definitely give it another try.
When I was a child I used to have dates with my mother to this restaurant (Mission Valley location) often so I thought this would be a nice place to have lunch with my kids. Not so much. When I called to ask about the wait, I was told that they had available seating and I wouldn’t have to wait. Upon arriving there I had to wait about 10 minted to be acknowledged. There was a family of three in front of me with a young toddler. The mother asked to be seated in a booth and asked the hostess for a high chair, the hostess proceeded to tell her that she could not have a high chair because it would block the walkway and was overall rude and not very accommodating to this family. When it was our turn to be seated, she barely spoke to us and proceeded to squeeze through my child and the host stand without even saying anything. I had to pull my child back so she did not get trampled by this lady. Once being seated the visit got better, our waitress was very busy so I wasn’t concerned that it took her a little bit to come to our table. Once she did, the visit after that went well but I would say that this location may not be very family friendly or at least that’s what it seemed like in my experience.
Taco Tuesday at On The Border is a great night out. They give you a lot of Chips and Salsa to eat while drinking your Margarita and the Taco's for dinner were excellent.
This place is pretty good too your average chain type Mexican food restaurant but the food's really good it's very consistent and they have a lunch time chimichanga for like 10 bucks that just can't be beat
Seating was quick. The server was great. She took off the fried jalapeños dish from our orde because we barley touch them (they tasted gross) . The shrimp tacos were good! I wish they had more veggie options.
When they get it right it's very good. Unfortunately they don't always get it right. Ordered a soft drink and it tasted of disinfectant. Server brought me another and it was the same way, decided to stick with water. Food came out and mine was cold, had to be sent back.My wife's meal was to come with extra onions and peppers and it did not. They were quick to get some to her but she was halfway through her meal by the time they arrived and mine was still not back. By the time my now very hot meal arrived she was finished. The staff were nice and helpful and apologetic about the situation so we appreciate that.
One girl taking orders, serving, bar tending. I liked the lunch specials and a fine bloody Mary. A bit simple but tasty and it was a happy hour price for it. Wait time was a bit but like I said, only one girl doing it all and she rocks!
