Stopped in for the first time. Got the double cluck which is a huge piece of chicken on a great bun with pickles and slaw. It was so tender and tasty! The fries were awesome too. Great setting with lots of outdoor seating.
One of my favorite restaurants around. I eat here at least once a month. The firebird is my go to but the bone in fried chicken is great too. Make sure to order some of the slaw and ask for your fries well done if you prefer crispy fries.Staff is always helpful and friendly. Today they made a modification to my order because I made a mistake while ordering online. It should have cost, but they just fixed the issue no questions asked. Amazing customer service.
Clucking great chicken sandwich, really good fries and plenty of good beers on tap! The bartender who served my was nice, polite and attentive. Clean and spacious dining room and patio. Service out of the kitchen was also very quick. Will definitely be going back!!
Very good chicken sandwich. Recommend Firebird over the others because the chicken thigh is more juicy than the breast.Actually quite good fries! Very fresh ingredients. Also a lot of sauce options. I recommend pineapple mustard (never seen elsewhere) and BBQ.And this site has more parkings than the Little Italy one.
Pretty nice place. Chicken was alright but we probably won't be back. The noise from the road is so loud and pretty distracting. Pet friendly which was nice. Overall the experience was ok
Stopped in during vacation with the family after being told it was "the best chicken place here". Great food, fun atmosphere. Took a while for the food during dinner time, but absolutely worth the wait!!
Life-changing. Worth the drive, for sure! I've eaten through half the menu and I can't wait to try it all. Nothing has ever let me down. The spice levels are perfect! Everything always tastes so fresh. Hands down, best chicken place in SD. Keep it up, Cracky!
SUCH A GREAT PLACE! We love crack shack. A must try! The BAE is delish!
We had read this was one of the top places in San Diego County to find fried chicken. Having lived in the south, our standards were high. Given that the chain was an off shoot from the Juniper & Ivy restaurant in Little Italy which is a favorite, we headed here after placing an online order. It is very popular and the parking lot always packed. We have never eaten in the place which is a mammoth shed with picnic tables and bar. Definitely family style. They use jidori chicken only. Honestly, I cannot tell the difference. You can order combo packs or a la carte. It is a lot of chicken. The chicken is cooked to order and timed for your arrival, so it is moist inside and crispy outside. This is not spicy chicken but has a pleasant amount of seasoning. I love their unusual cole slaw which has pickles and jalapeño peppers (these can be picked out if you like). The fries are good, but not as good as the chicken. They serve them with and without "schmaltz." I assume this refers to being cooked in animal fat versus vegetable oil. I could not tell much difference which was surprising. I think this is the go to place for take out chicken in the north county.
Love their fried chicken and schmaltz fries. I can't really recommend the gluten free fried chicken though. Get the regular stuff. If you want gluten free chicken, go to nectarine Grove.Edit: Adding reason why the gluten-free chicken ain't it. The breading is hard and dry and cracks and crumbles far more than the regular breaded chicken. I would honestly revisit the gluten free formula and maybe take a page out of Nectarine Grove's approach using plantain for breading.
