Pretty dang good for a strip mall sushi spot. The rolls and nagiri we're on point. Beers were cold. Would visit again.
I had the fuzzy navel roll and the spider roll. I got them both to go so it could be different in the restaurant. But I thought the flavor in each roll was lacking some type of depth. The rice was a little flakier than what I expected, and the salmon was just a little flavorless. I did like The soft shell crab in the spider roll. It was very good and the tempura's crunch was crisp with a light salt flavor. I'll give it another try in the restaurant to see if there is a difference.

Excellent service, delicious food, lovely atmosphere! Great vegan options. Looking forward to going again!
3 because your food is decent, but your timing on orders is almost as bad as Sushi Kuchi, and their order timing is horrible....sorry. ?♂️
Great food and service at a great happy hour price.
I love the fish at Sushi Lounge Encinitas. The protein roll was the bomb.
Both stars are for the waitress and the ambiance which were quite nice! Aside from giant portions of fish, who the heck taught these folks about saba, sushi rice and eel sauce? The saba (mackerel) was old i tell you! The sushi rice flavorless and the eel sauce uncarmelized. Icky. Zero stars for food!
I had originally put a less than admirable review, luckily due to Jessica, it’s been adjusted.
I'm very spoiled and picky about my sushi. I lived in Japan for four years. It was very ok. My Saba just looked...tired when it came out. The color did not seem incredibly fresh and it was room temperature. The taste was ok, but nothing to brag about. The service was excellent and staff was friendly. My children enjoyed their overcooked non-sushi rice that had the consistency of Uncle Ben's. Not sure about the Americanized sushi. Didn't try it but it looked pretty good.
