Was so impressed with the offerings and vegan menu.. until.. the plastic straws and condiment containers made an appearance. Hoping this 3-star review will prompt management to move in a different direction. Sustainability is sexy!
I was so excited to try the food here, because it's all vegan! I got the carne asada fries, and the slidders. I recommend the sliders! The impossible patties were so flavorful and the toppings made it a balanced, zesty, full bite every time! The carne asada fries were pretty good, but I didn't love the way the seitan (the "carne asada" was seasoned. The texture was a little off too. I've had better loaded vegan fries, but these were good - not great. I recommend it if you're in the area and want a small bits along with a drink (alcoholic or non). I'm not a big fan of alcohol, but my friend who is really enjoyed their selection and variety! A very pleasant experience but not the best vegan food I've had! Still really enjoyed it!
Great place to hang out with your friends! Very spacious and lots of seats. Love the high ceiling, retro theme and decor. Lots of beer selections. You will get drunk just by getting flights of beer. I love vegan food but not at this place. Ordered a Carne asada fries but the fries were soggy and I could taste the old oil they used. I highly recommend you eat something before you come. There are plenty of fun food places nearby!!
It’s a great place to hang out, grab a delicious beverage….but when you can’t get their attention to pay up and have to leave….knowing they can easily charge your card they swiped earlier to finish the bill.They add maximum tip of $5 on 2 beers. Screw that, are you horrible at trying to retain customers or just stupid?
The inventive food, elegant and modern vibe, and responsive and friendly customer service at Modern Times Encinitas made for a stellar private dinner/event for a work conference I planned. Julia, the events manager, and the entire on-site team were incredibly helpful, thorough, and accommodating, including checking in about different food needs and providing gluten free alternatives for some of my guests. I highly recommend organizing events here--and checking the place out on your own for interesting beers and delicious food.

Amazing vegan food. Good drinks. But service is fair. This location closes PROMPTLY at their listed closing time (as in, they will clean the entire place while you’re trying to enjoy your dinner so they can leave 1 minute after closing) and they will also be closed entirely by posting “updated” hours on the door that doesn’t match their website or Google maps. If you can go, great, but don’t count on it and have a back-up plan.
Love the retro theme! As an Orderville lover, I just had to check this place out on a whim because I just happened to be nearby. Ordered the throwback slider and the buffalo chicken sando, and both were amazingly delicious. I wasn't paying close attention to the menu and didn't even know it was vegan. Next time I have to invite some friends.

Don't let their 100% plant based scare you away from the food. It was my first time here and I went with the slider, I got two. I ate them almost as fast as they arrived. Also, if you want to try a new beer and don't want a full pint, they offer 5oz and 8oz pours
