The Las Olas Margarita is ?The overall atmosphere is good here - its great to be so close to the beach. The seating is a hit or miss, most of the tables are picnic tables so it's a little difficult to squeeze any large parties in.The pre-order before you get seated unfortunately resulted in two orders getting missed.Overall a nice place!
Had an absolutely great meal and a great time at Las Olas in Cardiff by the Sea. We arrived at about 5:30pm on a Tuesday and by 6:00pm the place was full. The restaurant is just across the highway from the beach and was open air when we arrived. You place your order when you enter at the front and then find a table. The staff will deliver chips and salsa to your table and then your meal when it is ready. The menu is heavy on tacos and burritos and it was hard to choose. We went with the happy hour specials and had Baja Fish Tacos and the Carnitas tacos. I also had a side of Black Beans and a "Flight" of salsas. The flight was a great idea. It came with a yogurt based salsa, guacamole, beans and cheese and then finally jalapeno pickled carrots. There was nothing on our table that wasn't delicious. I will be a return customer for sure.
This place was hands down the best place we've ever had Mexican food at. We have ate at plenty of places believe me! Great atmosphere and people kind of like an open air market. Will go again next time in town. I had a veggie burrito and added grilled chicken and refried beans inside plus cheese on top! LOL made my own essentially. Husband had shrimp chile relleno and side of cabbage salad. Yummy
Are you serious? Is this dining style some kind of joke? Step one, order over priced food at the front counter. Step two, give a tip that starts at 20%, which the high school staff hasn't even earned yet. Step three, go sit down at a dirty table and hope they got your order right. Step four, get your own drinks. Want refills? Get those yourself too. Want more greasy broken tortilla chips? No thanks, one bowl is enough for you. Was your order correct? Mine wasn't. Did anyone from the staff come check on me and ask if my meal was satisfactory? Nope. Am I coming back? Never. Ask if I'll recommend this to anyone else? Not a chance. But everyone lives to hear a terrible dining experience story, and this will be my favorite one to tell. I should have gone to Islands.
The food here is fantastic and I've been there many, many times. I love this place but the lack of table service has really degraded the restaurant. You have to get your own forks and water, order your food and drinks from a counter and even go up to get hotsauce. I won't be going back again until they reestablish their table service.
You have to order your food at the cash register and pay for it. You get a number you put it on the table and they bring you your food. You also self serve your drinks. Good food reasonable prices. They do come to your table and serve your food. They also ask you if there is anything that you may need and they will actually get it for you. Great experience nice people
So very disappointing! What used to be a charming relaxing place to hang out has become anything but. You have to stand in line to place your order and hope that there will be a pleasant table to sit at after you’ve already paid and been asked to give a tip for service that has not yet been rendered and might not ever be. So sad with what the new management( the son !) has done to this place! We used to see the same pleasant faces serving us year in & year out now we only recognize one person.
Always a good bite at this place. I've been eating here for at least 10 years and haven't had a bad plate yet. Good margaritas too!! I would only add a bit more heat to the salsa. Worth the 55 mile drive. Plenty of parking.
Las Olas never disappointed. Great food, staff and lovely atmosphere. This place had also good parking and you can stroll on the beach after dinner. What's not to like? ;)
Great little place for some good Mexican food. We came here on a Saturday right as they opened up and had a nice lunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our food came really fast but we were only the second ones to sit down. The have a nice atmosphere and a cool patio style seating area. The prices were what we expected. 40 bucks for two fill meals and just water to drink. Bu the time we left they were already getting pretty busy so it seems like a popular place. We will be back for sure.
