Truly authentic experience coming from someone who lived and worked in Japan for many years. Just about the best you can do around here, from the food to the staff. Great fun! Just be sure to sit at the bar, and offer your master a drink. ;)

This is my favorite local sushi place. We find the sushi fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is just ok. One thing I didn’t like was how rude the man behind the counter was to the lady servers. They were doing the best they could! Not a good look, sir. 5-stars for the food.

Ahh, Omikase from a master. Nothing but the best fish sourced carefully beyond the usual fare. The presentation is straightforward, traditional Tokyo. What more could you want? The attention to detail, seasonal rice preparation, sauces and garnishes for each item seldom just soy sauce and wasabi, and responding to feedback after each course in crafting the next, is unparalleled by any other in this area. Dining at Kaito transcends to a level above the everyday with you along for the ride.

This was actually a really terrible first experience . I don't recommend coming here unless you have a lot of patience and time on your hands. We had a table of 6 and we waited for our last friend to get their food if was 25 minutes later than when the previous plate touched the table . We are polite so we waited to eat and that caused more trouble than it was worth. I could not get out of there soon enough.

Best sushi place by far. Best customer service. Amazing experience. Definitely come highly recommended.

We had such wonderful experience here. Best sushi by far in Encinitas. Everything is so fresh. Super awesome service. Definitely will come back and highly recommended.

Amazing Sushi, but the staff will make you're dining experience worthwhile. If there's a seat at the bar, then I would highly suggest taking it for the full dining experience. They don't have a cocktail menu, so either you're pairing your meal with sake, beer and or wine. As for the sake we went with the bottle of junmai (cold sake) and chased it with Asahi Black. For the appetizers we went with the chicken (tatsutaage) which was cooked to perfection. Also, the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura which was also delicious and very generous on the portion size. As for the nigiri, which stole the show for me, I would highly reccommend the ONO (wahoo) which is not found often on many menus, kanpachi (amberjack), unagi (freshwater eel), Hamachi (yellowtail) and Uni (they mainly get from Santa Barbara). I rarely come to north county, but I'll be coming more often now that I've discovered this wonderful establishment.

Pretty nice neighborhood sushi restaurant located in Encinitas. The foods here are pretty delicious. My favorite one is their Wahoo fish - nigiri and sashimi, which I don’t see it often in other places. The other items are nice too, sushi roll, beef tongue, tempura, all good. The wine here is so so, it’s pretty cheap too. Hot sake is decent. The only thing is when we got there tonight, they are packed and only have two waiters serving. So it was super slow, we waited 1 hour for appetizers to come. But their food is too good, so I still give a 5 star.

I wish i can give 6 stars ?. One of the best epicurian experiences. Some of very rare fishes prepared by chef Kazu, all at fair price in an modest mall location. Best food find on this trip. Highly recommended!

Picked up dinner from here and everyone loved the food. We had some sushi and a few rolls. Everything was delicious.
