I only went there because I was sent an email for a birthday breakfast. You have to pay extra for a non pork meat option though a meat option is part of the plate and the plate is over $15?. I do like their pancakes over most other diner chains, the sweet cream makes a difference. They charge nearly $4 for a blah cup of coffee that WASN'T refilled. I waited a full 10 minutes before going to the cash register to ask for a to go container, as no server came to check on us AT ALL. Doubt I'll go back for ANYTHING other than pancakes. And definitely NOT to this location. Disappointed is an understatement.
The Diner is one our favorite spots, It's close to our house and the service is very good and the food is good with large portions, and our Grandkids love it too ? ?
If the photo doesn’t say enough then I’ll say the service was great, attentive staff and very abundant seating but the food oh my lord. It’s practically unrecognizable slime that they serve here. And how can we make it better? Coat in gravy. Not a fan but since that’s some peoples fare I’ll respect that.
Am currently sitting here. This isn't Cheesecake Factory, i shouldn't wait this long. A family of 6 coming after us should not get their food before us. Its been an hour. Took them 20 minutes to even get us a drink. God help them, they're awful on Sundays. A whole 1 and a half hour wait for food. Not even worth the price. Kept looking at burger king from across the street. Was so close to leaving within the first hour
We had a wonderful meal at Black Bear, as usual. Our waiter, Alexis, was absolutely fantastic: even if he was very busy he took always good care of us. Will come back for sure. We highly recommend this place.
Enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Black Bear Diner when I arrived into Oakland before I could check into my hotel located down the street. The service was outstanding and quality of the food was above average.
stopped by today for lunch with my 1yo son, had being a while since i’ve had a meal at this diner (due to covid) i ordered the meatloaf plate with salad and veggies it was delicious also ordered my kid the corndog plate with fries off the kids menu he also seemed to enjoy it. Our server Elena was very friendly and was helpful to my child needs with a friendly attitude (high chair, coloring cartoon paper & extra napkins) food did not take long to come to our table, overall a good experience and will keep coming back.
Lots of fun and the food is just right! (I would say fabulous, and it is given the staff and experience, but it is a diner after all! It's a diner with charm and character!) If you download the touch tunes app you can play music on their jukebox. Make sure you get the Black Bear Credits for music which is far less cost per play than the "use anywhere" credits!
Poor service. Bland Food.
Terrible, terrible, horrible service. No customer service, food cold. It sits under the light until it’s almost dried out, fries cold and hard. Anybody that has read one of my reviews know that this is the first bad review. Only two waiters and I think one was the buss boy. Terrible experience at $43. Save your money and go to Burger King. Their food is good and so is the customer service.
