I went here with a friend because a Mexican-Italian fusion place sounded interesting. The staff were friendly and attentive. The margarita was much larger than I expected, and I was happy to find that it wasn't too sweet. I ordered the Mexican Paella. The portions were generous, and it tasted good. It didn't quite feel like paella; the texture was a little off and there were shrimp shells mixed in the rice. I don't mind when the shrimp tails are still on, but this was more like an oversight.
The trickiest part about this place seems to be getting in and getting out; but I assure you it is entirely worth the wait. I'd say its worth the drive anywhere from Stockton through Rocklin as you won't find anything else like it.Let me explain: the entrance is a non-descript door with billowy red curtains behind them. If you are confused about where the entrance is exactly, there's a to-go pick-up window to the right of the entry doors. When you walk in, you may not be greeted, and there may be people already waiting in line out the door. It took around 15 minutes to get seated with two or three groups in front of us which really isn't that bad for how small of a staff there is actually running the place. If you live dangerously and like to try different places, you'll know this omen means its either truly something good or a sign of true chaos. Luckily, gladly, its the former.I have to initiate Todo un Poco into the 5+ club because it does something the rest of us sometimes wistfully imagine but never dare: a dreamy fusion of Mexican and Italian food set inside a rhapsodically decorated bistro, dominated by deep reds with black accents. The decor is playful, original, self-referential, and invigorating.A usual break or make moment is when you see food going out while waiting to be seated; I think you'll find everything looks good here. The menu is littered with new and exciting combinations of flavors and everything is made fresh in-house . The chips and salsa you start off with are excellent, with a nice thicker chip and well-balanced salsa which kicks for lighter tongues and provides a nice exploration of flavor for spice fiends. It won't burn, but the flavor is still excellent. The menu has a great deal of pasta options, but what caught my eye was the pizza, and we ended up ordering two: the chicken chile verde and the Punjabi. Neither disappointed in any sense. The dough is crisp and crunchy on the bottom with a soft bread center. Not too thick and not too crispy. The underlying flavor with the cheese and sauce is already well balanced, but the toppings are added in just the right way so that everything is complimentary without detracting in any way.For instance, the tomato on the verde pizza adds a nice brightness to help round out the flavor and provide a richer sense of contrast. The bits of cilantro and onion pair very well with the sauce, and the chicken on top is delicious: crisped outside with a nice reduced sauce clinging to marinated and shredded chicken.Every dish that went by looked incredible, so its hard to imagine anything on the menu being disappointing; time and refinement has clearly been put into this menu. The margaritas also fall in line with this, as they are big without being too sweet or too heavy and the salt enhances the brightness of the flavor. This would definitely be a good place to bring someone to get to know them as the atmosphere and menu coupled with the bit of the wait provide ample time and material for conversation. And, worst case scenario, even if that turns out to be an unmemorable dud, your memories of the food will make you forget everything else.As for the pictures, I just couldn't wait. It was damn good.
Good food, reasonably priced. Very good waiters. Mexican/Italian restaurantOnly complaint is that the dish i ordered came with pickled jalepenos which ruined the dish. The sauce ended up tasting like pickled jalepeno juice, not a good flavor.
Delicious normal and unique food options... beautifully decorated with an inviting atmosphere. This was my first visit, but definitely worth the return. Their Mexican shrimp ravioli is beyond amazing
First visit here. I had an expectation of a restaurant that had Mexican food and Italian food. I was only partially correct. Their unique blend of the two cuisines was palate expanding! I got the Tamales Regionales and my wife got the Pasta las Marias. Both these dishes were delicious blends of Mexican and Italian flavors that complemented each other so well, I can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu, and I'm not big on Mexican food.
Food was absolutely delicious, very generous portions, employees were very friendly, outgoing kind and very professional.Gave me a very awesome birthday dessert.Looking forward to coming back in the very near future!!!:)
The ambience is fantastic. I LOVE the art. The service is superb. The food is delicious and unique. A fun place to eat and have a glass of wine. I will be back for more. Thankyou.
What a feast for your eyes and appetites! The unique decorations in the restaurant make you want to check everything out. The smells coming to you as you enter are wonderful. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were comfortable during our short wait. The many unique choices on the menu made it so hard to decide what to eat. I had the macaroni and cheese with carnitas and chorizo. It was absolutely delicious and such a big portion. My husband had the mole enchiladas, the best he's ever had. Our guests had a pizza that looked, smelled and tasted delicious. The other item was the ravioli with a very good sauce. We had such a great experience here that I really recommend you go and enjoy it. Next time we are in town we will be back!
They are short on staffing, which many restaurants are experiencing. Did pretty good on accommodating everyone. Food is usually good, but some hits and misses. The pozole verde was good, but my wife's mole enchiladas were lacking in mole sauce and were dry. Pretty sure microwave was used judging from the steam. Drinks were good.
My boyfriend and I came here in New Year's Eve. We wanted something local and different while supporting a small business. We were pleased to not have to wait to get seated. The menu was very interesting, as it had Mexican options, Italian options, and fusion. I tried the Pasta Las Marias (I think that's what it was called) and my boyfriend ordered a chicken mole calzone. My pasta was delicious and was extremely unique...almost like a chicken enchilada with pasta instead of tortilla. At first they brought out a pepperoni and sausage calzone of some type instead of the chicken mole, and since my boyfriend had already taken a bite, they told us to just keep it and brought the correct one also. Both were very good. We ordered chorizo fondida, again AMAZING! Finally, we ordered this banana dessert with a piece of banana nut bread, brown sugar coated friend bananas, and vanilla ice cream and it was to die for!! The service was friendly and decor was awesome!!! The only thing I would say is that my boyfriend's tiny little drink (well whiskey and coke) was $12, which is totally not worth it.I will definitely return! There are so many other things I would like to try from this menu!
