SomiSomi is a Korean brand with creamier ice cream and they call their fish shaped taiyakis "ah boong". Their flavors are matcha, ube, Oreo, milk, milk tea.Ah-Boong is a popular dessert from Korea inspired by Japanese taiyaki, which are fish shaped waffles. The Korean version features a fish shaped cone, called boong-uh-bbang, which is then filled with a filling and topped with soft serve ice cream.If you have little kids be aware their ice creams have tea unless you are okay kids having tea products. My son loves the cookie ice cream. I think overall the ice creams are okay. When they first opened, they had crazy long lines even in winter. Thank god, people have calmed down.
Somisomi has got to be one of my favorite ice cream places, especially because it’s so close to my house. Not only is the ice cream amazing, the taiyaki (the fish waffles) are adorable and delicious. They also have swirls of flavors, where they mix two flavors, and it changes every day. My favorite combination is the salted caramel and milk tea. It’s very reminiscent of butterscotch. I would highly recommend visiting if you haven’t.
This is really good and very unique. From what I experienced the people working are patient and helpful. Its a very unique place, you got icecream in a nice little cup, a waffle that has a filling of your choice, and you get to choose your toppings. Something I would want to change is letting customers choose more than one topping. Overall, this place is bomb.
My favorite ice cream place in the sacramento region. The filling for the taiyaki is quite sweet but very yummy! The ice cream is very creamy and smooth + perfect with the taiyaki.
Staff interaction is very friendly. It's clean and modern. Service is fast and quick. I'm here for the matcha flavor and custard fillings... So good!
I got their Thai tea flavored soft serve in a bowl. It didn’t have a strong flavor (Thai tea doesn’t either usually) but it was pleasantly sweet. We also got the butter pecan in a fish cone that they freshly make in front of you. Both were tasty. The soft serve itself was very creamy and smooth. They give you a lot of soft serve, and you can get fillings and toppings such as cereal or crumbled oreos as well as a choice between a strawberry or a mini macaroon garnish. If you’re not big on sweets, I suggest splitting a serving, as it’s a lot to eat in one sitting. The staff were friendly and it seemed clean. Cool to see more of these kinds of places pop up!
The Thai Tea flavored ice cream is absolutely delicious! And paired with the custard waffle, even better! My taste buds were in heaven. Will definitely be going back soon!!!
Everything they offer is SO GOOD. The ice cream was delicately balanced on the fish, and the fish part was warm and crispy. I got matcha swirled with cookies and cream. I couldn't taste much cookies and cream but overall it was excellent.I also ordered the custard and red bean fish as well. Those were even better, especially the custard filled one. The outside was light, fluffy, and warm!! Delicious!!
Matcha ice cream is so delicious, my daughter loves it.
Lovely bright place. Great lactose free ice cream. I had the Mango and Honeydew with the custard filled fish cone. All sprinkled with coconut flakes.
