It was late afternoon on Mother's Day, 2022. Since today is May 29, 2000. I have had plenty of time to think about what went wrong at the last visit, of a dozen or so visits over the last few years. Until our last visit, we were never disappointed at the quality of our meal and service. I ordered my previous favorite, Land and Sea, which was filet mignon and ocean scallop. My son ordered Ribeye and Calamari. The filet mignon consisted of mostly all fat pieces of meat, almost as if the cook had set these aside to throw away, but put them on my plate instead. I showed what I had to our waitress and to her supervisor, neither of whom said a word The supervisor was prepared to negotiate, and her first offer was a new order of filet mignon, which I agreed to. I had the impression that she was prepared to give us a price break or a new plate of filet mignon I agreed to the freshly-cooked meat (which was excellent). Our son, however, waited over 20 minutes past when my wife and I received our plates, before his plate was brought to him, after I had advised the waitress at least twice that we were almost finished with our meals, and our son had nothing o eat. After our bad experience of a lousy $38 disgusting fat pieces of meat and our son's order being totally neglected for close to 30 minutes (from his order), I can only conclude that there was something wrong in the kitchen and check of my cooked plate and of the waitress' neglect of our son's plate. After this unfortunate experience of improperly-prepared dinner, we could never enter again this restaurant which had previously been one of our favorites in the Sacramento area.
I’d give zero stars if I could. Customer service skills are non existent here. Ordered dinner for my family and I and the issues just kept on coming. Wrong sushi rolls, asked for no shrimp on entree (allergic) and still got shrimp, and my wife’s hibachi entree was supposed to come with vegetables but instead she received a literal pile of cooked onions. Just onions lol. I called to express my concern and have it remedied but was met with disrespect and told “kitchen will close so come tomorrow” as if that will somehow solve my problem even though the order was placed over an hour prior. Opted to return the food and get a refund. This place is a joke. I’d recommend everyone steer clear.
Below average sushi, and Average wine lis but their hibachi tables looked fun as they were packed. Bartender was great but she was doing way too much without help. Full bar there are well. Wouldn't go back for sushi but would try out the hibachi with family and even hang out at bar-again bartender great and nice ambiance around the bar area with enough taste for sports choices.
Haven't been here since Covid. Finally made the trip last night and sadly it wasn't like how it used to be. The soup that came with the hibachi was barely half filled. The chef was not very entertaining and splattered oil outside of his cooking area. Worst of all, the food was very bland. At the end of it, it was very obvious the chef was waiting for his tip. ? Will not be returning.
So to start we're told we have to have a certain amount of people in our group in order to be seated when in reality we could still be seated. So we finally sit down after asking them again can we come in with less than the number of people, "yes come in." Like, well damn, we we most certainly would have a while ago had we known.. we get seated start ordering and then get our drinks. We get our food made and he was absolutely amazing; personable, and entertaining. The food he prepared was scrumptious. The servers had some difficulty in understanding when we asked for cooked food. That was eventually remedied with a different item that wasn't one a with raw meat. We start finishing off our plates and drinks and then the checks come. I felt rather ignored after the food was made. The server brought one refill of lemonade and then our cups sat empty. We never saw her to ask for more and she never came with more.. eventually we just asked someone else for a refill. They kindly assisted. Their customer service could do with some work. Especially when it comes to recommending food and attentiveness to the customer. If you're on break or lunch, great, let us know. In conclusion, great food and experience. Also, this place does not have changing tables in the males restroom my husband toughed it out and cleaned our baby on the ground. I will not return.
Food was uncooked and when asked to cook well, cook commented they were busy. What a lame excuse. I would never recommend anyone to go there. I will also report to the better bureau.
Absolutely worst experience at Kobe today. We got seated at our table and the cooking did not start till about 45 minutes of us sitting there (which we did not mind since a lot of places are short staffed) Second, we asked the cook to serve everything well done and he proceed to tell us it was too busy tonight and he had other tables to cook for. The rice was hard, shrimp and lobster were not cooked as desired. OH and the chicken was chewy. The waitress offered to cook our food again in the back, but we had waited for a hibachi service. The waitress also expressed “she did not care”. We offered to pay for everything we enjoyed (The drinks and appetizers) but the manager told us “Sit here until we paid the full amount”. Would you pay for uncooked food? No. My family and I always used to go to Kobe and loved it. Worst experience ever. I believe that just because a restaurant is busy does not mean the food should be rushed. Kobe has lost some loyal customers.
Overpriced! They used 3 eggs to mix rice for 7 people! Extremely low quality food! The staff extremely unprofessional. Talking, yelling and screaming at each other across the room. Not a pleasant environment.
First time there. Very friendly staff and great food/atmosphere
Went here for a family dinner. We'll no need to say it was a great experience for my daughter she was amazed by the chef and his joyful attitude. The food was great. Didn't have any complaints at all. The bar was great the drinks were nice and smooth and not too boozy. Lol I even got the chef to leave me the bottle of sake after he was done cooking!!! I would definitely recommend this place for a great family fun dinner
