My grandma Gladys, bless her heart, gets out of the hospital, and first thing she asks for is minestrone from brick house. Best minestrone she's ever had. Coming from a 91 year old woman who cooked for a big family her whole life, during a time when recipes were sacred and passed down through generations... Well, you get the idea. Great food.Other than that it's a very upbeat place with a very friendly and classy vibe. The bar is also excellent. All around pretty hard to beat.
The two of us had a great dining experience here. We shared the Salmon and Short Ribs. We both opted for the 3-course meal by adding both minestrone soup (not pictured) & salad. Everything down to the soft texture of the bread & fragrant garlic butter was delicious. Service was good as well. Parking does not seem to be an issue since there's a lot with plenty of signs which are reserved for guests dining here. It's locally owned with a full bar. Located in old town Elk Grove. There's also a happy hour offering. It's basically gourmet with a hometown feeling to it. You can taste the love, passion & comfort in the dishes served. Everything was seasoned well & tasted fresh. No salt & pepper needed.
My friends and I have been going here for drinks, appetizers and full course dinner meals. And every time we go here we're not disappointed. Their dinner meals are superb! I also dig their pasta and burgers. I'll be coming back to try their brunch soon. This place totally rocks!
Everything was wonderful! The service was great, the appetizers were wonderful, and the birthday cheesecake was a tasty surprise! The pesto seafood pasta was very good! The calamari in it was perfectly prepared!
I feel unsure how to rate our experience. We read the online menu before selecting this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday, but discovered several items had been removed from the menu and the prices were also outdated by more than a year. The food itself was delicious - and the prime rib cooked perfectly, but was so late in being delivered to our table (40+ minutes) that both our server and the manager came to apologize. The music was also so loud that we didn't feel the ambiance matched their attempt at fine dining.
I was disappointed that they have discontinued the famous Clam Chowder from the menu.Otherwise the lasagna and beef stroganoff were incredibly tasty and Huge portions. We ate all we could and had leftovers for 3 additional portions.Little pricey but cocktails and lots of leftovers need to be considered.
It's been a long while since we've visited this place and my companion and I ventured in on a Tuesday night hoping for a quiet time. Well, they had a fundraiser going and it was doing great so the dining room was rather packed and while being seated there I request out front, being the better option - no problem. We kept it simple and ordered entrees - Salmon and veggies for my companion and Lasagna for me. Thinking that the salmon MUST be farmed, since it wasn't listed as wild caught, and knowing there are several options and various qualities when it comes to farmed product, I asked our server about the salmon - where it is farmed. She didn't know but told us that she has the owner order extra for her and her family because her dad, who's picky about his salmon, loves it. She was great! As busy as the place was, I didn't want to inquire further and we went with it. Glad we did. The salmon was excellent, generous serving, moist with a very fresh, clean flavor and perfectly cooked. The veggies were steamed with a simple light seasoning, so satisfying. My lasagna was really very good, but different from most, yet in a good way that I'm not sure everyone would appreciate. First - it is HUGE! And that's all you'll get is this BIG ramekin. It is layer upon layer of pasta and cheeses, 3 inch thick and doughy - the perfect comfort food. A hearty meat-laden sauce smothers the whole thing and adds ample tomato acidity and savory meatiness for the entire meal. Somehow, I ate the whole thing, probably shouldn't have. Definitely shouldn't have... It would be nice if this was a smaller portion, like half, served with salad and minestrone, but the option is just to add soup & salad to the already huge serving. The thing is, it gets a bit monotonous eating that much lasagna, even thought it's sooo good you don't want to stop. And all the pasta options are the same. Will I order this again? You bet, but I'll likely share it or take half home... or just indulge in gluttony - again.
My wife and I showed up during happy hour, so we only had drinks and appetizers. Coconut Prongs and Meatballs were very tasty. The service was great. We will definitely be visiting for dinner and I would recommend this place to family and friends.
Great tasting dinner; we had calamari, salad, burger and spaghetti! Unfortunately I got terrible food poisoning and won't ever return! I tried to inform the restaurant but was put on hold and nobody ever came back. Maybe it was a one off experience, but two days of not being able to keep anything down is not worth trying again.
Went for dinner on a a Friday night and tried this place out for the first time. We started with the calamari. We thought it was ok, but was anticipating getting calamari rings and tentacles instead of calamari steak...not quite the same. We had the ribeye and salmon. The ribeye was tender and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The salmon could use a little less parsley as it was a little overpowering in taste. The service was pretty good with our waitperson being very attentive. We weren't impressed with the ambience...a little too noisy for a dinner that was $120+ for 2 people. Overall, the place seems like a nice place for happy hour. If you don't mind the noise while celebrating a special occasion, this place works.
