DON'T COMPARE THIS PLACE 2 YEARS AGO BECAUSE THOSE OLD REVIEWS ARE DIFFERENT OWNERS OR MENU! We dine in and serve your curry on plastic plates. There are no such thing with milk tea. I spent nearly hundreds and the cashier couldn't even get my order right. I order steak curry, tonkatsu curry. Katso sando, Tamago sando combo and 2 miso soup.. all over price for small portions. Not coming back! All hype with fake Google reviews and yelp.
Quick SummaryReally good curry spot that did everything well. Rice, protein, curry, radishes. Everything was solid.Food- 5 starsOrdered the tonkatsu and the chicken karage curry bowls. Everything was delicious. Portions were large. The macaroni salad and omelette sides were a good balance to brighten up the mealService- 5 starsFast casual restaurant where you order up front and get your order delivered to you. Pretty fast serviceBottom LineExcellent curry spot if you're around the area. Highly recommend!
Really good Japanese style curry! Very close if not authentic Japanese curry. The katsu and karage are really nice and crispy! Best to eat while hot!
Love it. Really similar to Japanese Curry I have before, spicy with sweet. Both Tonkatsu and Chicken Karaage taste good, crispy and crunchy. I also like the thickness of Pork Cutlet.
I ordered the tonkatsu curry + chicken karrage.- Tonkatsu curry was good: it was filling at a reasonable price and had a nice kick of spice at medium spicy level.- Chicken Karrage was a bit underwhelming: a good amount of it was breading and the meat felt a bit weird and didn't feel like your standard white chicken meat.
Nothing special about the curry, average. Felt like we ordered take out and just ate at the place. We got plastic bowls, other items were served in takeout containers, and waters in plastic cups too. For a restaurant experience, as I have had here before, it would be better to have a plate, or bowl, and get the side items on plates. As for drinks, maybe in a cup. Eating out more often now and comparing to others, they have glasses, cups, plates, bowls, and some even use silverware. Not sure where my tip went towards ?
A very good selection of dishes is offered. In addition, they have multiple levels of spiciness that you can choose from. They will also do substitutions if needed. A large and varied offerings of beverages.
The Taste and Flavor is not authentic Japanese. The curry is just like a gravy. No vegetable or onion etc...as you can see in the picture.Tonkatsu were dry and had no tender bite taste. A good Tonkatsu needs to be a thick cut and juicy flavor. Also any Japanese Tonkatsu restaurant serves it with Thin slice cabbage and Miso/Japanese mayonnaise sauce. Even the photo/posters in the restaurant are not appetizing. It's just more immitation and far away from any Japanese taste.I lived in Japan for over 20 years and I am professional cook. I will not recommend it.Japanese curry has a lot of flavor as it's a delicate slow cooking cuisine. I am not sure if it's owned by a real Japanese chef or just a non Japanese. Most of the Japanese restaurants in Bay area are simply run by non Japanese and are copy cats. It's difficult to find real Japanese food. The best is cook by yourself and you can notice the difference.
My new best Japanese Curry joint in the east bay. Really pleasant surprise for me. After hours sitting in take out box, the tonkasu is still crispy and the coating easily soaks up the complex curry thats not too thick or runny. Gonna go back and try other dishes soon.
Quick & friendly counter service. We liked the purple yam fries and pork dumplings were better than the tonkatsu curry and grilled chicken curry.
