This is the second time dining here. The food is okay seemed to needed more seasonings though for the mash potatoes and Mac n cheese and the cornbread was way to dry. The fish, shrimp and oysters are what's cooking.
I used to love this place I'm not sure exactly what happened, today I went and got an oxtail plate which came with oxtail gravy and rice, I got potato salad and Black Eyed Peas to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement! the gravy tasted like water the rice was bland no flavor no salt nothing the oxtails were so tough! I drove all the way from Orange County to spend $25 And it was a waste of my time, energy and gas I will never go there ever again and it's a shame because I used to really like this place! I've never been so disappointed in my life I'm not understanding why the oxtails were so tough and the gravy taste like water!!! The Black Eyed Peas were dry and disgusting! I'm just not understanding what happened to this place what a waste of gas and money!!!!
This is my favorite spot and today the cook really disappointed me!!!! This is supposed to be meatloaf on my plate and it’s undercooked and unseasoned. &&just ewww.!!! I’m upset fr
We were looking for a good po boy sandwich and our local restaurant for this item was closed. Someone mentioned this place, R&J Southern Homecooking. I can’t tell you how many times we past this joint thinking it was closed. I am so glad we ordered from here today. The food was so flavorful & delicious. The portion was plenty. The prices are reasonable. The service was the best service I can remember having at any restaurant. Such a friendly, family atmosphere. This is now my favorite place for bbq and soul food. The best! I recommend you try it. You will not be disappointed.
I had a filet of sole meal delivered, but it was not good. First, the consistency of the fish was not what I'm used to -- It was thicker, so I'm not sure if it was filet of sole or not. Also, it was too oily, and some of it was mushy. Second, the cabbage juice had dripped all in the container and in the bag.The blackeye peas were okay. They definitely need to pack their orders better. My hushpuppies got wet from the cabbage juice also. RJ's was not my best soul food experience.
Had Fried pork chops/mashed potatoes and gravy/greens/red beans/cornbread all washed down with Purple RAIN which is grape ? Kool-aid mixed with lemonade*everything was DELICIOUS!!!
They're soul food taste a lot of like my food and all of the elders that have cooked for me throughout the years. It truly tastes like home
I WOULD NEVER SET FOOT IN THERE AGAIN! the ONLY thing that was good was the French toast & water. The bacon was fried hard & so was the fish & no flavor. The turkey patty was also flavorless. The grits were watery & no flavor. The potatoes were mushy. The eggs were decent. The waitress came to retrieve the plates & made the comment: it looks like yall didn't like any of it..... because she saw everything was still on our plates but yet we were charged $35.... so basically we donated to their business
So good by the time I finish is when l realized I didn't take any pictures. And for those on the hot food program (snap, EBT) is accepted here. They also have drive thru and call a head service. Staff is very polite and friendly and Clean!!Go ahead and give them a try ??
I ordered my food over the phone for pickup ...They said it was a 25min wait. I pickup my food only to be disappointed the Biscuit was hard as a brick not fit to eat at all nit to mention my food was cold . The black eyes peas was dry and over cooked and the greens had no flavor. I have eaten here before plenty of times but today they really drop the ball .. Today was a CHEAT MEAL for me but nevertheless it was a waste of money and gas ..... SO DISAPPOINT ? AND ANNOYED RIGHT NOW ...Dont know if I will give them a chance to redeem my Patriotism..
