Well, like any other McDonald's, staff friendly,$$ pricing is getting high considering what they used to look like but it's understandable, clean environment, fun to know that this is one of the only McDonald's that had its old nostalgic charm and appearance, food well again if you like Mickey d's well this would be a cool place to come with the family and qalk through the museum part that pretty much opens everyday!! ???
Voted local-forum.com BEST MCDONALDS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Located in a awesome location with plenty of parking and stores nearby. American comfort food in one of the oldest McDonald’s locations nationwide. Lots to see and collectibles to take pictures with. Every single employee Has a great positive attitude giving their attention to the customers. All of their food is freshly made to include their chocolate chip cookies. Once in a blue moon I enjoy McDonald’s in a nice clean location with fantastic customer service. Highly recommendLocal-forum.com
Loved the experience. They still have the fried ape pie A MUST TRY! The little building on the right is their dine in area along with a little built.in memorabilia museum open to the public.
Oldest McDonald's in the world. Amazing original artifacts stored in the dining area. Kids loved it.

Nice and fresh. Great customer service
Cute location. We only visited because I heard that they sell FRIED apple pies. Unfortunately, when we arrived, they only had three pies left. My husband ate one while my kids and I shared. We were there pretty late in the evening, so I will not deduct stars for them not having enough. The place looks fairly clean yet a bit run down, but what can you expect from THE oldest McDonald's in the world?! Oh, I gave them five stars because we also got ice cream cones... can you believe the machine was working? ?
This McDonald’s in Downey, CA was opened in 1953.Today, it is still operational and is officially the world’s oldest surviving McDonald’s. It is even considered a tourist attraction complete with its own small museum and gift shop.At the time of its creation and for several decades after, this McDonald’s was quite different from other existing McDonald’s outlets, as it was the only one that was franchised with the McDonald brothers and not with Ray Kroc, meaning it was not given any modernization requirements following Kroc’s takeover of the franchise. As such, it had a different menu and didn’t even implement the famous Big Mac into it.In 1990, it was finally taken under Kroc’s McDonald’s Corporation but then was damaged by the Northridge earthquake in 1994.Due to all this, the corporation wanted to demolish it, but the outlet was listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservations’ 11 Most Endangered Historic Places that very year, causing many to demand that it was saved. The corporation eventually decided to restore and repair the restaurant and it reopened successfully.I think it's one of the only places where you can get an apple pie that is deep fried vice baked. The thing tastes like an apple flavored churro. It's quite delicious.
The food is no different from any other McDonalds and the soft serve machine is just about as dysfunctional as any other soft serve machine at your standard McDonalds. However, I had to pay a visit to this particular McDonalds due to its history. This McDonalds happens to be the third McDonalds ever opened (1953) and is, in fact, the oldest operating McDonalds in the world. Because of its historic age, there's a small walk through portion alongside the restaurant. Inside the miniature museum, lifeless promotions created a half century ago by the iconic restaurant and previous iterations of happy meals line the showcases. I would definitely recommend going to see some of this restaurant's iconic history if you get a chance.
Oldest Mcdonald's in function. I liked the Retro style. It also had a mini museum with the history of the restaurant.
