One of the best sushi places I’ve been to in the states. The fish is super fresh and melts in your mouth. The restaurant is run by Japanese people and the chefs are also Japanese. However, this place can get superrrrr busy. We came around 12 and had to wait around an hour. The restaurant itself is small, so your food comes out reasonably quickly. The service is attentive. It’s a great restaurant with great food! The quality is worth the price! They also have fish you can get that’s flown from Japan. Crazy!
Taste :3.7/5Environment: 4.1/5Service:4.1/5It’s the a delicate place you need to set the different expectation .Omakase start with 10 pieces with market price .It’s totally out of my expectation to this place .You can find the rice on the outer of seedweed! Really? They change the shape the sushi need to where it stay .Also ….The fried baby octopus! Not a crunchy skin and barely can taste the octopus? Don’t tell me because you are the baby ??
This is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine! My friend encouraged me to eat Omakase style which means the chef picks the fish for you. I tried soo many things I've never tried before! It felt like such a bucket list moment! Also, the quality of fish was so great! I may not do Omakase each time, but I'm definitely going back. Note, highly recommend getting a reservation a few days in advance. The line was long, but they took us in within 10 minutes because her reserved it ahead of time. Also a bit pricey, but worth it!
rare gem. Authentic Japanese sushi place run by well trained Itamae (sushi chef). Ordered two Chrashi, sushi lunch combo, and couple of rolls. All were beautifully presented and delicious. The miso soup and salad weren't that good and lukewarm. Ordered Tempura Udon and it was also lukewarm. Tempura was fried old style, without panko crumbs. Great service, decent price. Will be our usual place to dine.
I kind of hate to recommend this restaurant as it isn’t big enough to accommodate everyone who wants to come in. There is always a wait out the door unless you line up ahead of time or reserve the bar where they only serve Omakase. Located in a business park, Makomae caters to local sushi aficionados. Let’s just say it isn’t for the California Roll crowd. Our wait was around 45 minutes, maybe more. The lunch specials are an amazing bargain for those used to New York or San Francisco prices. The quality is comparable. If you can't handle the long wait, you can call in for take-out. But if you really want to savor the quality at its best without breaking the bank, just wait it out. You won’t be disappointed.
This Japanese sushi restaurant is very small but very good. Plenty of parking outside. The sushi is very fresh and delicious. Varius appetizers taste really good both the fish and meat and vegetable appetizers. I could come here every week. Come early it's always packed.
You can't order the lunch items for dinner...no combination meals, no "assorted sushi", no curry. Their menus online don't make it clear. If you want something akin to the assorted sushi, you can order the 10 piece omakase (chef's choice, they ask if u have allergies) for $48 (as of Dec 2021). It's delicious and pretty. Wish they didn't use styrofoam for takeout containers. They take 1-2 hours to do takeout so don't order without planning in advance. The wait staff and sushi counter always look like a well oiled machine.
This gem of a place hidden in an unassuming strip mall by the bowling alley.Walking in, you’ll find a packed house with several waitresses and depending on the time of day one or more sushi chefs ready to serve you an amazing omakase.Been coming over the years when I’m in town and they’ve never disappointed. Call ahead for reservations and enjoy the black sesame ice cream dessert.
I love this place for amazingly priced and quality sushi. I have yet to dine-in at this cute little hole in the wall but can't wait till I have the opportunity to! We love getting their Chirashi Bowls, both regular and premium.
The best sushi place in Diamond Bar area. The place is very small and the first time we tried to eat here, we weren't able to because there was a long line. Reservation is a mustWe had sashimi and chirasi bowl and they were very fresh, sweet and delicious. We went back with our daughter and she loved the food. I highly recommend this place if you love sushi
