Crowded inside and outside seating. There were flies flying around the whole time, flies on the window, on the furniture and on our food. We were seated inside. Imagined if we were sitting outside. We ordered chicken lettuce wrap (mien gai) pad kee mao chicken & shrimp (drunken noodles), chicken satay, rice, three flavor fish (pla preaw wan). Every single item we've ordered was not what we expected. We waited for our food a long time. When the food finally came out, we wanted to send it all back to the kitchen and walk out of there. But we didn't because we don't do that. The fish was over cooked and way too dry no flavor except sour no savory no saltiness. The drunken noodles was soggy and broken like dried up noodle soup with vegetables. There's hardly any vegetables only few slices of bell peppers and hardly any shrimp or chicken. The chicken wraps were just ground chicken blanched with hot water with cashew nuts, soy sauce, and cornstarch. There were no dipping sauce. We asked for hoison sauce to dip our wraps in. The waitress brought out a caddy of only chili oil and some other peppers and set it on our table. There were no sauce plate or utensils. We didn't get any dipping sauce for the wraps. Chicken satay were deep fried until brownish burnt and dried. (No tumeric or curry or coconut milk used) Just 4 little skewers of deep fried dried brown burnt chicken and no peanut sauce. They gave us just a plain liquid clear sauce that didn't go with it. It was our first time there and will be our last time. I don't think the food was cooked by a Thai person. It's not even authentic Thai. Didn't look or taste like Thai. I don't know how they stayed in business? If you want authentic good Thai food and good service, do not go to Sophia Thai in Davis GO SOME WHERE ELSE!
Bartenders are friendly and attentive. The food is great. I had their yellow curry, and egg rolls. The curry could have been spicier, but that's on me for not ordering it spicier. Trivia nights here are a lot of fun.
bartenders were kind of d1ckheads. acting like they were doing us a great service by... us paying you lot to make us mediocre drinks? the donny with the long hair thinks he's too elite to say a simple "you're welcome" or even smile. the least friendly staff i've encountered. wasn't coming back to this ropey city regardless but this bar is top 10 IGN worst bars. the tables are pretty cool tho
Great drunken noodles and wonderful variety of curry. Everything was flavorful and ample.
Been visiting this place since I was a child! Amazing food and service. Must have items are the Nam Tok appetizer and the Massaman chicken curry entree. All of the drinks I have tried are delicious as well. Beautiful decor and awesome vibe inside. Outside is comfy and heated!
On Saturday night I went to Sophia's with a group of friends. One of our friends was not allowed to enter despite cooperating with the bouncers at every opportunity. I did not expect racial profiling from the same bar which holds "Latin Night" but that was quite clearly what happened. As soon as they realised we were a Spanish speaking group we were told nobody could enter. A few of our friends who had already entered came out to see what was going on and despite having a stamp already were now told they couldn't re-enter because anyone "associated with us" couldn't go in. Absolutely ridiculous. To top it all off, the bouncers were incredibly rude, even saying goodbye to us blowing kisses when we left... what sort of disgusting behaviour is that?? Maybe give your staff some anti-racist training and teach them how to treat people with decency and understanding.
Restaurant was extremely well hidden..look behind the stairs not up them.Food was good enough nothing special, servings were small have had better elsewhere.. Best parts were good service and great cocktail menu..would go back again but mostly for drinks and apps
Bartender is rude and unprofessional.Sophias was one of my go to bars for the cozy atmosphere however after yesterday my friends and I have collectively agreed not to visit ever again. The blonde bartender was rude and extremely aggressive towards us for no reason. It was towards the end of the night . As one of my friends made their way to the bathroom (with their mask on), the blonde bartender started yelling “we have a vomiter” and immediately verbally attacked them as soon as they got out of the bathroom. She didn’t check the bathroom by no means and the curly haired bartender started yelling too. There was no vomit and we were sober.Shocked to the point of speechlessness.. During my time here I’ve never ever experienced such revolting behavior. Will absolutely never step foot in there.
So my husband & I placed our order before several others tables, restaurant had just opened & we were the first ones to be seated. We recvd our food after 3 others tables were served, had to ask for a plate, to eat my curry & for more water to drink. Food was okay, taste wise, I’ve had much better though. The worst part was the belly aches for the rest of the night. I personally will not eat here again. Not great food & not good service either.
Came during lunch time wasn't able to each. So crowded. They have limited seating. We asked one of the workers if we could sit at the bar and she couldn't even speak English to answer the question.. I was turned off by this place. They need more seating especially only being open a few hours
