Food was delicious! Service was lacking...we were seated in the bar area. There were 5 of us. We constantly had to ask for service. We asked if our food was coming and was told they were waiting on a dish, then immediately food was served. Hhmmmm....coincidence or did bartender forget? Anyway...food was delicious! I would return and eat in dining area. Oh!!! And bring a sweater or jacket! Ugh...
If we wanted Sushi we were told it would take up to an hour. We ended up ordering chichen plates-chicken teriyaki and sesame chicken which were both dry and tasteless. Gave in an order a sushi roll which was at least better than the chicken plates. Probably will not return.
There was quite a wait and the beginning of our experience was not great. They won't let you go to the bar and order a drink while you're waiting but the host at the door didn't know what they had at the bar. I asked if they had a cider and he said he wasn't sure, then came back with a terrible sparkling wine?? Not great. But once we sat down the server made great recommendations and the food was great. My husband and I split the 2 for $60 meal which is an absolute steal! The mushrooms were delightful and the rolls are fresh! Great stop!
High quality rolls at a moderate price. The service was exceptional, our waitress was friendly and attentative.I ordered the "Rainbow Roll." It was fresh and I liked the touch of green onions on the top.The menu is via QR code and there are 4 different types of menus to look through. I like their system where they text you once seating is available, there's no need to wait in line.
Very pricey food for Miso soup that was served cold, our order of calif rolls made it to our table towards the end of our meal... bento box was ok had better Japanese food for less very disappointed ?
There's typically been about a 30 minute wait when I've dined here, and unfortunately you’re not able to call ahead to reserve a table. I’ve tried a few sushi places in Davis and Mikuni has been my favorite. The staff has been attentive and friendly and it has a nice location. The deserts aren’t amazing but it’s still a good place to go for dinner, so I’d recommend it
Weirdly I was there twice in one week for lunch and sat in the outside room. There is a fireplace and heaters - plenty warm. Service was good, food was fine - Brussels sprouts were amazing! I had the generous Bento the first time and the Chirashi Don the second time. The Chirashi was actually far nicer than I recall from pre-pandemic visits. Very generous portion. Would I return - Absolutely! Choices in Davis are abysmal and this is definitely one of the better options whether you like Japanese food or not.
Being centrally located and open late, this place was packed! We had a 50 min wait when we arrived at 740pm on a Saturday night. Nice bustling atmosphere and the food came out quickly. Kitchen was very well staffed, which is quite unusual in this day and age. Service was attentive considering. The above description is why I gave it 3 stars.Food was not bad but nothing to boast of either other than it did not suck. Sushi rice was mushy and underseasoned. This was a huge misstep in my book.
